Curious about The Encounter Project but want to understand more before applying?

Join the Project A team online to hear about this new 10-month experience bringing Jewish and non-Jewish Melburnians together through shared experiences, authentic conversations and genuine relationships.

Encounter is designed for Melburnians aged 18+ who are curious about others, open to meeting people outside their usual circles and interested in understanding different cultures, perspectives and lived experiences.

Over the course of the program, participants will come together through experiences such as shared meals, Jewish cultural and community visits, volunteering, music, facilitated conversations and smaller group connections.

This is not a lecture series or a political debate.

It is an opportunity to move beyond talking about communities in the abstract and actually get to know one another.

At the Information Night we’ll cover:

• What The Encounter Project is and why Project A created it
• What the 10-month experience will involve
• The kinds of activities and experiences planned
• Who the program is for
• The time commitment and program dates
• How participants will be selected
• What we hope participants will gain from the experience
• Plenty of time for your questions

A diverse group is already expressing interest, with Jewish and non-Jewish Melburnians across different ages, professions, backgrounds and life experiences drawn to the opportunity to build friendships, hear different perspectives and meet people they may never otherwise encounter.

You do not need to know anything about Jewish life or have experience in interfaith or community work to participate. Curiosity and openness matter much more.
