Gala Concert
This year’s concert falls on Halloween so in a nod towards this imported ‘holiday festival’, our band members are dressing up appropriately (they just love doing that so please feel free to join in) and each of our bands will present at least one work with a ‘spooky’ theme.
The concert is to be held in the New Norfolk Memorial Hall, Circle Street, New Norfolk on Saturday, October the 31st, beginning at 2pm. Drinks and snacks will be available for purchase.
Soloist
Derwent Valley soprano Bryony Dwyer, first sang in Vienna as soloist with the DVCB during a tour to Europe in 2001 when she was 15. Just eleven years later, she returned to Vienna to debut at the Wiener Staatsoper in the 2012/13 season as the winner of Opera Foundation Australia’s Vienna State Opera Award. Over more than a decade at the ‘House on the Ring’, Bryony was seen in many roles, including Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Musetta (La Bohème), Elvira (L’Italiana in Algeri), Najade (Ariadne auf Naxos), and Mlle Jouvenot (Adriana Lecouvreur), as well as in the title roles of Cinderella, by Alma Deutscher and Persinette, a World Première in Vienna by Albin Fries.
For this concert, Bryony will sing arias from La Traviata (Verdi), Die Lustige Witwe (Lehar), and The Enchantress (Victor Herbert)
