An inspiring opportunity for young dancers to experience a masterclass with former Australian Ballet Principal Artist Lana Jones.
Students will begin with a 45-minute conditioning class from 4.00–4.45pm, followed by a Ballet Masterclass with Lana Jones from 4.45–6.30pm.
Designed for dancers aged 10–14 years who may be considering QCD's part-time pre-professional training pathways, this masterclass will offer students the opportunity to refine their classical technique, artistry and performance quality while learning from one of Australia’s most celebrated ballet artists.
Through Lana’s wealth of professional experience, dancers will be encouraged to explore greater detail, musicality and expression within their classical work, while continuing to strengthen the technical foundations essential for their development.
Ballet dancers interested in joining QCD's Part-Time Pre-Professional Programs in 2027 may use this session as an audition opportunity. When registering, please select the ticket type that best reflects whether you intend to audition or are attending the session as a non-audition participant.

MEET LANA
Lana Jones is a highly acclaimed former Principal Artist of The Australian Ballet, where she enjoyed an extraordinary career spanning more than 16 years.
After training at the Canberra Youth Ballet School, Lana moved to Melbourne to attend The Australian Ballet School, graduating in 2002 before joining The Australian Ballet that same year. She rose through the ranks to become a Principal Artist, performing an extensive repertoire of leading roles across both classical and contemporary works.
Throughout her career, Lana performed some of ballet’s most celebrated roles, including Kitri in Don Quixote, Giselle, Odette in Swan Lake, Manon, The Firebird, and Aurora in The Sleeping Beauty, alongside works by internationally renowned choreographers including Graeme Murphy, Jiří Kylián, Wayne McGregor and Nacho Duato.
Lana’s artistry and exceptional performances earned her numerous accolades, including the Telstra Ballet Dancer Award, two Helpmann Awards for Best Female Dancer, a Green Room Award, and an Australian Dance Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Dancer.
Known for her musicality, artistry and dynamic stage presence, Lana brings a wealth of professional experience and insight to the studio, offering young dancers the opportunity to learn from an artist who has performed at the highest level of Australian ballet.
