Parent Workshop - Building Coping Skills in Children

Location
Tinyeri Children Centre 65 Jarvis Ave, Murray Bridge, SA, 5253
About
Session 1: Friday 27 November - 12.30 - 2.30pm
Session 2: Friday 4 December - 12.30 - 2.30pm
This is a two-part workshop which explores strategies for parents to support their children to develop the skills and attitudes needed to navigate the “everyday ups and downs” of childhood, and therefore begin to prepare them in case of bigger challenges in life.
At the same time, parents are offered a safe space in which to reflect on their own coping skills and resilience. Parents/carers are invited to explore how they can walk alongside rather than over-protect when their child is faced with challenges.
Topics covered include:
• What is resilience?
• Understanding stress for children and young people
• The benefits of ‘considered risks’
• How parents can help to build resilience
Light refreshments provided
Workshop Bookings essential
