Please join us for our October Literary Dinner for 2026 sponsored by Wakefield Press
Our next guest speaker is Dr Susan Marsden AM, a professional historian who works all over Australia as a consultant and oral history interviewer. Her latest book Mr Hill's History Painting is framed around Charles Hill's celebrated painting, The Proclamation of South Australia 1836. The book unpacks and explores the histories – intentional, implicit and disputed – in Hill's painting. Who are the people in the painting? Why are they there?
