OPEN PRINT STUDIO DAY
Independent Studio Access for Experienced Printmakers
Step into Flourish’s print studio for a dedicated day of independent making, experimentation and production. Our Open Print Studio Day is designed for experienced printmakers who are confident working independently with a press and are looking for the space, equipment and time to develop their own work.
Use the studio as an opportunity to revisit existing plates and blocks, edition work, experiment with new ideas, refine techniques or simply dedicate uninterrupted time to your printmaking practice. Whether you’re returning to a body of work, developing a new series or wanting to reprint plates that have been sitting in the studio waiting for their next outing, this is a space to work at your own pace.
Flourish provides access to our printing presses, drying racks and studio work areas, giving you the practical space and equipment to get stuck into your own creative process.
This is a self-directed studio session rather than a taught workshop, so participants are responsible for bringing everything required to produce their work.
Please bring all of your own materials and consumables, including:
• Your own printing plates, lino blocks, collagraph plates or other matrices
• Printing paper
• Printing inks
• Rollers, brayers and other personal tools you prefer to work with
(some tools available in the stidio)
• Any printing mediums, modifiers, solvents or cleaning materials specific to your process
• Apron or protective clothing
• Any other expendable materials or specialist equipment required for your particular technique
If you have existing plates or blocks that you’ve been wanting to reprint, bring them along and make the most of the dedicated studio time. It’s an opportunity to get your work back under the press, produce new editions, test variations or simply explore where an existing plate can take you next.
The Open Print Studio is intended for artists who already have prior press experience and a working knowledge of their chosen printmaking processes. There is no formal instruction or step-by-step tuition provided, although the studio environment offers the opportunity to work alongside other printmakers and share the creative energy of an active print studio.
Come with your ideas, plates, blocks and materials, and leave the day with new prints, fresh experiments and perhaps a few unexpected discoveries along the way.
Please note: Prior experience using a printing press is essential. This is an independent studio access session, not a beginner printmaking class. Participants must be confident operating the press safely and working independently.
Bring your own plates. Bring your own paper. Bring your own inks and consumables. Bring the work you’re ready to develop. Flourish provides the space and presses, you bring the practice.
