2026 International Repair Day Special Activities

Each October, Repair Café The Gap’s monthly workshop coincides with International Repair Day.  On this special day, we celebrate the power of repair to bring our communities together, reduce our impact on the planet, learn new skills and so much more.

2026 is the tenth anniversary of International Repair Day, and you’re invited to celebrate with us!

As well as our regular repairs of your broken household items, we have some special activities planned.  Our dynamic due, Ben and Sheryl, will teach you how to sharpen your blades using simple sharpening tools. Bring your knife along to learn how to keep your items in top condition.

Danielle “The Bead Lady”, our amazing jewellery mender, will have you upcycling broken necklaces and bracelets into beautiful bling for your garden or window with her Beaded Suncatcher workshop.

Our supportive State MP, Jonty Bush, will teach you how to celebrate the beauty of imperfection in her Kintsugi workshop.  Kintsugi is a Japanese method of ceramic repair that highlights the cracks and makes them a beautiful feature. Bring along your broken item - take home a perfectly imperfect treasure!
