About
We combine music, technology, art and markets to create a mini-festival celebrating experimentation.
Experimental Sounds is a concert series that breaks down the myth of classical music as stuffy or outdated, and invites audiences into a bold, genre-blurring reimagination of what it can be. In this new sonic landscape, classical music meets technology with both classical and experimental musicians programmed side by side.
It invites classically trained musicians to share the stage with artists working in code, live electronics and experimental practice, and with the many who do both. This concert is a space for those who don’t quite fit the mould and to witness an evolution of what tradition evolves into. This concert is a space for those who don’t quite fit the mould to witness an evolution of what new sonic traditions can become.
Curated and produced by opera singer and coder Tash Atkins, this concert series celebrates all things experimental music, but with a classical music edge. This second edition of Experimental Sounds will focus on pushing the boundaries of music and art experimentation alongside artists making in reaction to music and a mini artist market spotlighting local makers.
Line-up of artists, musicians and market stalls will be announced soon!
Every edition pushes further into what a cross-artform, multi-sensory art festival can be, and creates legitimacy for experimental art in Australia.
