About
Recital with Friends began in Canberra in 2022, when clarinetist Elsie Chen started inviting musical friends to share chamber music in an intimate recital setting. After moving to Brisbane in 2024, Elsie continued the series, presenting her first Recital with Friends in Brisbane last year.
Since then, Elsie has continued to meet new musical friends and discover new possibilities for chamber music. This year’s recital brings together six wonderful musicians — some long-time friends and some new musical connections — for an afternoon of music spanning intimate chamber works, lively duets, romantic melodies, and beloved film themes.
Joining Elsie are Jennifer Burgess and Ting Hsu on piano, Andrew Fong on clarinet, Steven Port on bass trombone, Angela Cook on bassoon, and Kristoffer Apostol on cello.
