About
Tenants in Common is a way of separating the cost of the land from the cost of the buildings, while giving both parties security in ownership of a part of the title. (Two or more people own shares in the property. The shares can be equal or unequal in any percentage, and can be changed over time. The shares are treated similarly to shares in a company)
As one community member said “Tenants in Common is actually really common but not many people know how it works or how it can be used to make buying land more accessible - it worked for us and now we have a little community of friends on one block”.
Come and hear from Ben Franklin of NWF Lawyers on the legalities of the model and the experiences of community members living this model
