Tackling Racism Together: Local Government Forum

How can councils tackle racism while ensuring all communities are heard, respected and included?

Tackling Racism Together brings councillors, council officers, community leaders and practitioners together to explore practical, whole-of-community approaches to addressing racism and discrimination.

Through panel discussions and community perspectives, the forum will explore the National Anti-Racism Framework, developed by the Australian Human Rights Commission, and how councils can translate it into local action through their policies, services, workplaces and community engagement.

Speakers include:
• Maria Dimopoulos AM, CEO, Settlement Council of Australia
• Kon Karapanagiotidis OAM, Founder and CEO, Asylum Seeker Resource Centre
• The Hon. Bruce Atkinson, former President of the Victorian Legislative Council

Every participant will receive a practical local-government toolkit with resources, ideas and suggested approaches to take back to their council.
