Superskills for Supervisors – Online

About

Build supervision skills that strengthen practice, reflection and professional growth

Good supervision is more than discussing cases. Supervisors need to create a space where practitioners can reflect honestly, develop their skills and work through practice issues without supervision becoming either overly directive or unfocused.

This one day clinical supervision workshop builds your confidence to structure effective supervision in alcohol and other drug treatment settings, strengthen the supervisory relationship and use practical approaches that support learning, reflection and accountability.

Through case studies, paired practice, supervision contracting, reflective exercises and Socratic questioning, you will practise the core skills of effective supervision and work through challenging situations including ethical dilemmas, supervisee difficulties and difficult feedback.

By the end of this workshop, you’ll be able to
  • Apply key clinical supervision models and adapt your approach to different supervisee needs and stages of development
  • Develop clear supervision agreements covering expectations, responsibilities, confidentiality, feedback and practical arrangements
  • Strengthen the supervisory relationship through collaboration, trust, support and appropriate challenge
  • Use Socratic questioning and structured reflective practice to deepen practitioner insight and learning
  • Apply practical frameworks to ethical dilemmas, supervisee difficulties and relationship challenges
  • Give difficult feedback in a clear, specific and constructive way while maintaining the supervision relationship

“Richard facilitated with fabulous humour, clinical examples and reflections. The content was structured logically and flow was smooth. It was a great experience.”
