Boorloo's noisiest boys Injured Ninja are back with the first single from their first full-length studio album in over a decade. 'Blades Forged' is the opening salvo from 'Nuclear Gandhi', due in early 2027, and follows their 2020 EP 'Total Impact! Maxxx Damage!!!' and the late 2023 live album of their supermassive drumming spectacle 'The Epic of Gilgamesh'.
Heavy but cheeky, the single is laden with multi-part harmonies and the band's signature fury and distortion. It's a pop banger that lands somewhere between the classic 90s Aussie grunge and snark in the vein of Regurgitator and a much heavier cut of Ween, but saturated in that Ninja layer of sonic overdriven weirdness that only they can produce.
'Blades Forged' will be available exclusively on Bandcamp from Friday 30 October, with streaming to follow later.
New Artwork and a tribute to longtime Injured Ninja collaborator Pete Long
The single artwork is a special new design by Pete Long, Injured Ninja's classic artwork contributor, who created the art for their first singles and albums back in the 2010s. The reunion of artist and band honours their long friendship and celebrates their work together. Pete has been recovering from a serious bike accident and brain injury this year and, unable to work, has returned to making art as part of his rehabilitation.
To support him, a limited edition run of t-shirts will be printed for the launch, available as pre-orders with gig tickets. Proceeds will go towards Pete's recovery.
