Next Wave presents SciFight

Next Wave presents SciFight: We should search for life out there!

Next Wave is Mosman Council’s talks and ideas series, bringing leading thinkers, creatives and innovators together for engaging conversations about the issues, discoveries and ideas shaping our future.

For this instalment, join us for SciFight, a science comedy debate tackling one of humanity’s biggest questions: should we search for life beyond Earth?

With hundreds of billions of stars in our universe, it seems unlikely that life evolved only once. So where is everybody? Have alien civilisations simply missed us? Are they too busy to visit? Or have we been collectively ghosted by the cosmos?

Blending fascinating science, sharp humour and spirited debate, SciFight brings experts and entertainers together to argue for and against the search for extraterrestrial life. Along the way, they’ll explore our fascination with the unknown, what discovering alien life could mean for humanity, and whether we’re really prepared for the answer.

Expect big ideas, bold arguments and plenty of laughs as we grapple with a cosmic question: What’s more unsettling: that we’re alone in the universe, or that we’re not?

Doors open at 6pm. Refreshments will be served prior to the event.
