About

From Racetrack to Second Career
A Thoroughbred Retraining Masterclass with Internationally Recognised Horseman Scott Brodie
A 15-week retraining program condensed into two practical hours!
Internationally recognised Thoroughbred retrainer Scott Brodie brings more than 30 years of experience in retraining and rehoming retired racehorses, including demonstrating his methods in the UK and Ireland.
Scott established the Thoroughbred Rehabilitation Trust at Racing NSW in 2012 (now Team Thoroughbred) and has dedicated his career to developing a systematic approach to giving Thoroughbreds safe, enjoyable and rewarding careers after racing.
Learn how to turn your off-the-track Thoroughbred into a safe, confident and enjoyable leisure horse.
In this practical masterclass, Scott shares his proven, step-by-step groundwork methodology, demonstrating how to work with the Thoroughbred's natural sensitivity and intelligence to build trust, communication and confidence, progressing through to work under saddle.
Designed for everyday horse owners, not just professional trainers, Scott's approach is a clear, repeatable system that anyone can learn and follow.
His Horses from Courses eBook, guiding owners through the full retraining process, will also be available.
From Retraining Racehorses to Changing Lives — Horse Aid
Scott also uses this methodology through Horse Aid, the registered Australian charity he founded, which uses retired Thoroughbred racehorses to support the recovery and wellbeing of serving and ex-serving Defence personnel and first responders experiencing service-related trauma.
Through its Healing through Horsemanship programs, Horse Aid draws on the Thoroughbred's intelligence, sensitivity and responsiveness to human behaviour and emotional energy to help participants experiencing post-traumatic stress, anxiety and depression develop self-awareness, emotional regulation, confidence and trust.
We are horse people, not therapists. Our programs use practical horsemanship to encourage post-traumatic growth, complementing rather than replacing clinical treatment.
Horse Aid is proud to be the charity beneficiary of Southern Highlands Thoroughbred Week, celebrating the remarkable second careers of retired racehorses and the difference they can make in people's lives.
