The Perioperative Quiet Pathway at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead Since 2017, this innovative collaborative, anaesthesia- led program has transformed the perioperative journey for children with complex behavioural needs by replacing stressful, traditional admissions with tailored, child-centred pathways. Through careful planning, dedicated theatre sessions, and the ability to combine multiple procedures under a single anaesthetic, the Quiet Pathway improves safety, healthcare access, and dignity for children and their families, ensuring that some of our most vulnerable patients can receive the care they need.

Objectives:
1. Gain an understanding of the Quiet Pathway model at CHW and its development.

2. Explore strategies used to improve healthcare access for children with neurodevelopmental and behavioural support needs.

3. Examine the impact of individualised perioperative planning on patient experience, safety, and service efficiency.

4. Consider how the principles of the Quiet Pathway may be adapted to other healthcare settings.
