About
Grow food. Build community. Take action.
Want your home and garden to give more back: more food, more life, more connection? This two-day course is a practical start.
Over two Saturdays you’ll learn how to read your own site and work with sun, water, wind and slope. You’ll see how the parts of a home fit together: land, buildings, living systems and people. We follow the permaculture principles of Bill Mollison and David Holmgren, and we also cover the human side: cooperation, decision-making and working well with others.
You’ll learn at Akia’s established permaculture property in South Hobart. It has composting, rainwater harvesting, bees, a worm farm, a native plant nursery, fruit trees, vegetables and more. There’s also a choice of optional hands-on activities.
You’ll go home knowing how to approach designing your own urban permaculture garden, and with clear first steps for your home, garden or community.
