About

If you like your children's book creators anti-genocidal ...

... this is the event for you!

In-person or online | FREE

WHAT:

It's sort of like speed dating, but with books!

By the end of the workshop you will have experienced:

  • 10 picture books (titles to be confirmed)
  • 5 minutes read-aloud+discussion with the author/illustrator/moderator
  • 5 minutes review+copy+paste across various review sites to support the creators

WHY:

  • For this inaugural speed reviewing session we will only feature books written by creators who have consistently spoken up for Palestinian self-determination & liberation.
  • These creators have risked their careers to advocate for human rights & international law to apply equally to all. They deserve our support!

HOW:

Here’s your chance to support book creators in a tangible way.

  • As an emerging or mid-list author, it is difficult to get eyes on your book.
  • The marketing rule of thumb is that >50 reviews are needed before a book is recommended & made more visible on sites such as Amazon & Goodreads.
  • We will aim to get to that threshold of 50 reviews across multiple platforms for our chosen titles.

WHERE:

Attend in-person at Grange Library, Brisbane (snacks provided)

Online (link will be emailed closer to the day)

WHEN:

FAQs

Which books/creators will be featured?

Details to come. Check @zewlanmoor for updates.

Can you feature my book?

At this stage the book choices are at the discretion of the organiser. However, there will be opportunities within the workshop (both in-person & online) to suggest books & creators for future speed reviewing sessions.

I can’t make the session in real life. Is there an online option?

There certainly is! Register for either the IRL or online option. If you can’t make it at the time, register for the online option and a recording will be sent to you.

Can you guarantee my security online?

No, but we will try to make the group as safe and enjoyable as possible. To that end, we ask that you register under your legal name and let us know if you have a pseudonym or other name you are known as. Please answer all the questions about your role, participation and motivations for attending. We’re not being nosy—just trying to vett attendees to prevent trolling & disruptions as much as possible. To protect your privacy online, we suggest you use a pseudonym when you log in to meeting. But, of course, you are welcome to use your own name. We reserve the right not to admit people to the meeting, and the right to ask people to leave if necessary.
