Forbidden to leave his country, award-winning Iranian playwright Nassim Soleimanpour distilled the experience of an entire generation in a wild, utterly original text. His words have escaped censorship and are awaiting both actor and audience. Slyly humorous and audaciously pointed, this 'theatre entertainment meets social experiment' is unlike anything you have ever seen, and will ever see, and will make you question everything.

WHITE RABBIT RED RABBIT is, most simply described as, a theatrical experiment. Three actors have been hand picked to take part in the opportunity of a lifetime: they will, one of them at each performance, take to the stage to perform a piece of text which they have never read, never researched, and truly know nothing about. The audience, who are also asked to not research the work, are invited into the room to watch the actor take on the challenge and support them - by any means necessary…

Since its joint premiere in 2011 in Edinburgh and Summerworks festival WHITE RABBIT RED RABBIT has been translated into more than 30 different languages and been performed over 3000 times by some of the biggest names in theatre and film including actors John Hurt, Whoopi Goldberg, Nathan Lane, Stephen Rea, Sinead Cusack, Marcus Brigstocke, Dominic West and film director Ken Loach.​

This October, the renowned theatrical experience arrives in Newcastle for 3 performances only. We offer you, the audience, the same instruction as provided to the 3 unique actors - do not research this play. Give yourself over to the theatrical mystery. Let your guard down. Trust the rabbit.
