Introduction to Metalwork

Description

Participants will be given opportunity to learn and experience three modes of basic welding as well as general metal fabrication skills:

  • Manual Metal Arc Welding - MMAW or stick welding
  • Gas Metal Arc Welding - GMAW or MIG welding
  • Thermal Gas Welding - Oxy & Acetylene welding
  • General metal fabrication skills

The course will be held in our brand new Swan Trade Training Centre (STTC) facility using the quality systems and equipment provided in them.

It is anticipated that participants will quickly gain knowledge and skill in utilising these welding modes and then be confident to apply their knowledge & skills to real-life situations with confidence. For example applications could include, home and workshop jobs, automotive applications, basic copper plumbing situations, farm and machinery and, aesthetic or artistic models.

Opportunity will be provided to apply the skills and knowledge gained to fabricate a metal Fire Pit in the STTC metals workshop, all materials will be provided.

No previous experience is required to register for this course
