Armadale SC Skills Acquisition Programme
  • The Armadale SC Skill Acquisition Program is designed to provide children in the age groups 9-12 with the platform and tools to develop technical skills as an additional weekly training session, in order to provide an all year round training programme. This programme has been designed with support from Football West and will form part of their Smarter than Smoking Skill Acquisition Programme

Football Federation Australia’s Skill Acquisition training program focuses on developing four core skills when in possession of the ball.

    1.    STRIKING THE BALL

This includes all forms of striking the ball such as short/long passing, shooting and crossing

    2.    FIRST TOUCH

Controlling the ball with all allowed body parts

    3.    1v1

All moves, feints and accelerations to get past and away from an opponent

    4.    RUNNING WITH THE BALL

At speed (with a lot of space) or ‘dribbling’ (in tight areas), this includes techniques for protecting the ball and changing direction

These four core skills cover 95% of the actions of any outfield player when in possession of the ball during a game of football.

During this programme players in U9 to U13 age groups focus on developing functional game skills.  It is a fun, exciting and invaluable learning experience for young players who are looking to improve their technical skills.

Each session will last 75 minutes and groups will have a maximum of 14 players.

The coaches are highly motivated, certified in the Skill Acquisition training and will follow a specially designed FFA programme which will create a great learning environment for all participants. In every session the focus is on one of the core skills, from the beginning until the end of the session (“theme based sessions”).
