You are warmly invited to join the community on Thursday 15 June 2017 from 6.30pm for the 2nd Mens Health Awareness Ball.
The Ball aims to raise awareness for men on important health issues to:
- Get a reqular/annual health check up, and
- Build a rapport with their GP so that they can live longer, healthier lives with their loved ones
Proceeds from the 2017 Ball are earmarked to support two respected health charities: beyondblue and Foundation 49
During the evening, two distinguished speakers will cover the areas of Emotional Wellbeing and Sexual Wellbeing.
As a beyonblue Ambassador, Allan Sparkes CV, OAM, VA will address the important issue of emotional wellbeing. Allan served for 20 years as a frontline police officer and is the only Australian to be awarded Australia’s highest civil award, the Cross of Valour and a subsequent Australian Bravery Decoration, the Commendation for Brave Conduct. In 2017, Allan was awarded an Order of Australia medal for service to mental health support organisations and to the community.
Dr Michael Lowy MBBS, MPM, FAChSHM, FECSM a noted sexual health physician with a special interest in male sexual dysfunction, relationship counselling and the general health issues of men will focus on sexual wellbeing. Dr Lowy is a lecturer in Men’s Health at the University of NSW, Notre Dame University, University of Sydney and Family Planning NSW. He is a life member of ASSERT NSW and a founding member of Society of Australian Sexologists NSW branch. Dr Michael Lowy practices in Woolloomooloo, Sydney at The Male Clinic.
