Food & Words 2017

Food & Words is an annual one-day writers' festival.

The program is aimed at the enthusiast, obsessed and curious reader and features authors who write about food.

If you're interested in food and reading about it, then Food & Words is a must.

The event started in 2012 and in the past five years has featured some of Australia’s best food writing talent. You can view the calibre of speakers by going to the Food & Words website, or signing up for our semi-regular newsletters.

It's a full day program with 17 authors presenting.
Food, wine and drinks, served all day, are included in the ticket price.
Plus, there is a book gift for all ticket holders. 

 

Speakers include

Mark Best, from Bistro by Mark Best on the Genting and World Dreams and author of Marque; A Culinary Adventure and Best Kitchen Basics.

Luisa Brimble and Sarah Glover, photographer and chef, who ran a successful Kickstarter campaign to self-published their cookbook Wild.

Monday Morning Cooking Club, a collaborative cooking project that is about sisterhood, heirloom recipes and community.

Sam Vincent, an award-winning farmer-writer whose work appears regularly in The Monthy. 

Brenda Fawdon and Christine Sharp, a cook and food writer (Brenda) and performer, illustrator, creative writer and photographer (Christine) combo.

Nick Haddow, Bruny Island Cheese Co. and author of award-winning book Milk. Made.

Sally Abbott, novelist, winner of The Richell Prize for Emerging Writers, and author of Closing Down

Caroline Beecham, novelist and author of Maggie's Kitchen

Barbara Sweeney, features writer for Country Style, founder Food & Words and presenter

John Newton, author of The Oldest Foods on Earth: the story of Australian native food, with recipes 

Ian Hempill, owners Herbie's Herbs and Spices, author of more than five books and TV presenter

Hilary Heslop, Le Cordon Bleu Gastronomy student 

Jane Lawson is the author of more than 10 cookbooks, including the best seller Snowflakes and Schnapps.
