FAQs

Who are the organisers?
Kat of All the Whimsical Things is the founder of Frocktails. As the events got bigger, Kat called on Libby and Renay to lend a hand. If things get too hectic there are also lots of wonderful ladies willing to help out.

Can anyone go?
Yes! Most attendees are home sewists who have met each other through social media or local sewing groups. There are various ages and levels of experience, and great diversity in style. Some have met each other ‘in real life’ while others are meeting for the first time. Most are from Melbourne however there have been attendees from all corners of Australia and even overseas.

What if I don’t know anyone?
Perfect! This is your chance to make some amazing new friends. There will be food and cocktails, plus the opportunity to pat fabric and closely check out the finishes on other people’s outfits – how many events do you know of where this is acceptable (and expected) behaviour?! Plus, you already have something in common to talk about - sewing!

Do I have to make my own outfit?
You’re strongly encouraged to make your outfit but you won’t be stopped at the door if you don’t!

What’s the dress code?
Wear something that makes you feel good. Everyone’s style is different so it’s up to you how dressed up you want to be. You can check out some outfits from previous events by looking up #frocktails #melbournefrocktails on Instagram or checking out some blog posts.

What does the ticket include?
Your ticket includes delicious canapés equivalent to a light dinner, a cocktail designed by The Everleigh Team especially for us, a lavish venue, and lots of enthusiastic sewing talk. We're hoping to confirm door prizes too.

Will special diets be catered for?
There will be items suitable for vegetarian and coeliac diets. If you have medical dietary requirements, please let us know on the booking form.

Can I buy tickets for friends?
You can buy a maximum of 2 tickets per order. You must include the name and email address of the attendees.

Can I sell my ticket or get a refund if I can’t go?
Tickets are not transferable. If you can’t go, don’t give your ticket away or sell it to someone. Instead, contact us at
melbournefrocktails@gmail.com. Your ticket will be allocated to the next person on the waitlist. If there is a waitlist, refunds (less the booking fee) will be available up to 21 days before the event. If you find out you can’t go within 21 days of the event please email melbournefrocktails@gmail.com and we’ll see what we can do.

Will there be a competition for Best Dressed?
There are so many amazing outfits in vastly different styles, we don’t think we could ever pick just one. Besides, Frocktails isn’t a competition. It’s a great opportunity make something you love, share the process and finished product with others, and have a great night out!

Are there any other meet-ups happening?
We will be organising a fabric shopping trip on the Saturday. Other events might be organised depending on the level of interest. Stay tuned to Facebook and Instagram for details.
