Canberra Grammar School will be launching the 2018 community engagement calendar, alongside the Annual Giving Appeal with the inaugural Red Hill Run.
All funds raised from the Red Hill Run will go towards the School's Master Plan which was launched in 2017 and the upgrade of sporting facilities, which combined with the generosity of the CGS Foundation, the P&F, School Sporting Associations and the School will see the re-development of our rowing shed, tennis and netball courts, Flinders Oval and the Main Oval Pavilion as rapidly as possible over the next few years.
The Red Hill Run event will run in conjunction with the Whole School Family Picnic, the CGS Foundation Red Hill Run is set to be a must-attend event in the calendar of the School and wider Canberra community. The event is open to everyone, whether a running enthusiast, a more tranquil jogger, a mountain bike rider, or even a casual walker. It will consist of three routes:

1. A timed run up the Red Hill steps for the fit and enthusiastic runners, plus a 5k and 10k run for those who prefer distance
2. A casual walk along the gravel tracks to the top of Red Hill; and
3. A mountain bike time trial ride around a Red Hill route.
addition to the above, the regular Whole School Picnic will also run as usual, allowing families to enjoy the lovely weather and atmosphere on the CGS P&F Oval. There will be food and refreshments available on the day, including a BBQ run by the School sporting groups, gelato, and music.
The event will be held on Sunday 25 February 2018, with the Red Hill Run events kicking off at 10:00am and the Whole School Family Picnic entertainment commencing at 11:30am.
To be guaranteed a Red Hill Run t-shirt, please register by 1 January 2018. A limited number of t-shirts will be available for onsite registrants.
The ticket prices are:
- Individual - $20
- Individual under 13 - Free
- Family - $40
Please note:
*Online bookings close: 04.00pm Friday 23 Feb, 2018
*Participants aged under 13 are welcome to participate at no cost.
*Family registration covers 2 adults plus 2 children. Children are classed as aged 13 to 18.
*The Red Hill Run and the Whole School Family Picnic are both alcohol-free events.
Rules:
The organisers reserve the right to cancel the event without notice should they consider this necessary for safety reasons.
The organisers reserve the right to move the event to the contingency date should they consider this necessary for weather reasons
Each competitor will compete on the approved course as directed, will not accept outside assistance and will accept the organisers’ decision as final.
The organisers reserve the right to reject or cancel any entry at any time.
No refunds of entry fees unless the event is cancelled.
Entries are non-transferable
No obstruction is to be caused to the movement of vehicular traffic.
Supporters must not follow competitors.
The only vehicles permitted to follow the event are Police and Official cars
All participants must follow the directions of race officials, marshals, traffic control officers and follow the course as marked. You must make way immediately for all emergency vehicles, including Police, SES, Fire Brigade and Ambulance
The organisers reserve the right to alter without notice any of the Race Rules that govern the event
In the event of a tie, the tied competitors will be placed in ascending order of their race numbers
No dogs permitted to accompany runners
