Clothing Revival and Resuscitation - HANDS ON WORKSHOP

Join Jane Milburn for this once in a lifetime opportunity to workshop the topic of Clothing Revival. Jane is travelling directly from over East to us at The Sound Temple to bring her wealth of expertise on this topic to the heart of the Perth Hills Community.
Jane says “Clothing is as essential as food for our health and wellbeing because clothes do for us on the outside what food does inside – they nourish, warm, and engage body and soul. What we choose to wear impacts how we feel and how we present to the world.”
As conscious eaters are now aware of sourcing fresh whole food and returning to the kitchen – conscious dressers are engaging in the process of learning where and how their clothes are made. Our choices have profound influence – yet sometimes we are too busy to think much about them.”
This interactive workshop will be led by Jane Milburn based on a philosophy of living lightly on Earth through the everyday practice of upcycling and enacting personal change.
The clothing surplus in wardrobes and op shops presents a creative opportunity to revive and adapt garments to suit ourselves while exploring our unique style. Sometimes we hold on to clothes which may now be too big, too small or out-of-date.
Bring along a few unloved natural-fibre garments and we will discuss options for upcycling them, then enact changes using hand-stitching techniques within the time available.
Jane is hosting two evening talks and two daytime workshops during her Perth tour, events not to be missed if slow clothing is close to your heart.
This workshop is the final of four events that Jane has so proudly hosted at The Sound Temple, don’t miss this opportunity, places limited to 10 participants.

Common Threads - Woven through Community is a month long community engagement project proudly brought to the Perth Hills following on from the world Fashion Revolution week in late April.
This exhibition includes topics of integrating sustainability, creativity, and traditional hand-crafted wisdom of the ages. These events are designed for you to leave feeling deeply inspired to become part of a brand new impulse of considerable change.
