Tradition has it that St Nicolas' arrival in Hahndorf is recognised with a celebratory service in St Pauls' Lutheran Church followed by a Main Street procession, sausage sizzle and carol sing in the town square. To help balance the seasonal materialist force, this year Benjamin Britten's celebrated "community cantata" St Nicolas will be performed in St Pauls after the central town celebrations.
