Eldorado: The Struggle for Skouries

hero
“Eldorado: the struggle for Skouries” is a documentary film about the on-going struggle of a small community in the Halkidiki region of northern Greece against a proposed gold mine owned by Canadian mining giant Eldorado Gold.

The film shows the history of the communities struggle to protect the forests, rivers and their livelihoods in tourism and agriculture from the damage caused by this high risk, open cut gold mine and the criminalization of their struggle by the Greek State.

It documents Greece in the era of economic and social crisis where the rights of communities and the environment clash with imperatives of economic development and profit.
