Taranta Festival 2020
11-15 March 2020

The Taranta Festival returns to Melbourne in 2020 with 5 days of Italian and Mediterranean music, dance and culture, featuring (from Italy) Enza Pagliara & Dario Muci, Tarantula Garganica, Luciano Castellucia, Davide Ierardi & Diluss (and from Australia) the Melbourne Taranta Orchestra, Santa Taranta, Arte Kanela, Zourouna, Delyrium, The Rustica Project, Kavisha Mazzella, The Melbourne School of Tarantella, Mirko Guerrini, Daniel Jauregui and Allara.

Traditional Pugliese Lunch and Music
A traditional Pugliese lunch in partnership with the Federazione Pugliese d’Australia. Great food and music acts from the Puglia region, including:
- Luciano Castelluccia (ITA) presenting his show "L’Acquasala salverà il mondo" a gastronomic musical show of Puglia Garganica. A fascinating mystical journey that starts from the Gargano, from its dirt roads, from its cowbells, from the bellowing of podolic cows, from the bleating of goats, from the energetic movement, from the passion and from the strong sense of belonging to the land of origin of its shepherds.

Mediterraneo: Festival Finale
A music event including the debut of the Melbourne Taranta Orchestra with special guests Enza Pagliara & Dario Muci, Allara Daniel Jauregui, Kavisha Mazzella and Mirko Guerrini plus performances from Mediterranean traditions including Zourouna, Davide Ierardi & Diluss (ITA), Delyrium, The Rustica Project, Opa Bato, Banda Bellini and The Melbourne School of Tarantella. The event will also feature dance and music workshops and food stalls.

12:30pm - Tarantella del Gargano with Carmela Taronna: learn how to dance the beautiful tarantella from the Gargano Peninsula with the visiting artists Tarantula Garganica!
1:30pm - Tamburello with Tarantula Garganica: Learn or improve your technique of Tamburello with Tarantula Garganica.
2:30pm - Traditional singing from the South of Italy with Enza Pagliara and Dario Muci: Dario Muci and Enza Pagliara are two of the most representative voices of the Italian Folk revival. In this singing workshop you will learn how to harmonize and sing in a southern Italian fashion and understand the value and cultural contexts of traditional multipart singing.
3:30pm - Tarantella Lucana with Diluss: A great opportunity to learn how to dance tarantella from Basilicata with visiting artists Diluss.

Join the acclaimed choir leader Kavisha Mazzella and the amazing Italian singer Enza Pagliara to create the Taranta Festival 2020 Choir! Enjoy four 90-minute sessions of choir workshops plus a public performance on the 15th of March at the Darebin Arts Centre!
