Stars over Bungendore

Leave the bright lights of the city and the luminescence of your digital devices for a short while and savour the wonders of the eternal sky at the ‘Stars over Bungendore’ astronomy evening. Richard Tonello of Astronomy Education Services will start with a fascinating presentation, after which he will train his telescopes on targets including the constellations of Orion, Southern Cross, Carina, Gemini and Taurus and other cosmic features such as the Great Orion Nebula, the Jewel Box Cluster, the Wishing Well Cluster and the Tarantula Nebula. Should the weather prevent direct star gazing, an extended presentation will be provided. The event is suitable for adults and children alike. Adults $10 Children under 14 $5 Children under 5 free Family (2 adults 2 children) $22 (A booking fee will be added at the checkout) Proceeds from this event will be used to help restore and preserve Bungrndore Park

Guided Bus Trips to Wildflower Rambles

Between Saturday 11 September 2021 and Sunday 12 September 2021
Led by Kim Fletcher these bus trips will be visiting Bob Blackburn Reserve, a precious piece of remnant bushland containing a Threatened Ecological Community preserved in the middle of suburbia. It contains an interesting mix of beautiful hills and plains flora. Flat site, easy walking and also Armadale Settlers Common, East is a section of Jarrah forest in the foothills of the Darling Range that has an under-storey of a variety of wonderful hills flora. Mostly flat site, smooth paths.

Giovanni Consort Concert

Join Giovanni Consort, Western Australia's professional chamber choir, for a musical journey through flowers and nature. Their sublime voices will bring to life enchanting and stirring music from throughout history, as well as premiere an exciting new composition on the theme of West Australian wildflowers. If this event is affected by COVID, a refund can be obtained or if postponed, transferred to the new date. Seating for the concert is based on first come first served on the evening.

Many fascinating bushfoods still grow around Perth and an understanding of their seasonality and management history adds further interest. Steve McCabe will deliver a snapshot of the local (Perth Hills) native food resources that are in season in late winter/early spring (Djilba).

Bush Medicine with Vivienne Hansen (CANCELLED)

Join Vivienne Hansen for an enthralling introduction to bush medicine and bush medicine plants. You will learn about key local plants and their healing properties and enjoy a demonstration of Viv making some of her favourite products. Vivienne Hansen is a published author. She is a Balladong Wadjuk Yorga woman from the Bibbulman Nation. She learnt about traditional medicine as a child from her grandfather, elder aunts, uncles and cousins.
