Canberra Miniature Railway
The Canberra Miniature Railway runs train rides for the public. We're owned and maintained by the Canberra Society of Model and Experimental Engineers (CSMEE), a community non-profit society staffed entirely by volunteers. All profits go towards building, maintaining and extending the rolling stock, track and infrastructure.
Train rides at dusk & in the dark, Sat 24 January

On Saturday 24th January the CMR is hosting train rides at dusk and in the dark. Rides begin at 5pm so that the littlies can enjoy them before they're off to bed but the real fun begins at dusk and in the dark when our incredible light show comes alive! Many of our trains have light shows themselves but the greatest attractions are the animated lights around the tracks. Trains travel beside, around and even under thousands of computer-controlled lights.

Party bookings at the CMR

You can book your party at the Canberra Miniature Railway here. For the ridiculously low price of $50 you get an allocated space in our party area, a table with (limited) seating, a BBQ, and one unlimited pass to ride the trains on the day (value $15).

Easter Egg Grabs & Night Trains
Between Saturday 4 April 2026 and Sunday 5 April 2026
The Canberra Miniature Railway is holding its Easter extravaganza, one of our most popular events of the year. Rides run between 5pm and 9pm so start in the daylight and end in the dark under lights, but the big hits are the two Easter egg hunts: 6pm (for ages 5 and under ONLY) and 6:30pm (for ages 6 and above), where there are 5000 Easter eggs to grab! A great fun event not to be missed.
NOTE: Every person entering the site must have a ticket (but children aged 2 and under are free). Tickets includes entry, unlimited rides, the light shows, and for children the Easter egg grabs. Rides are for everyone but the egg grabs are for CHILDREN ONLY - they're not for you adults! For safety reasons, children shorter than our measuring sticks (about 1.4 m) must ride trains with an adult. ENCLOSED FOOTWEAR IS REQUIRED (no thongs, sandals, etc).
