The Masterclass Sessions

At the heart of the Atherton Tablelands Chamber Music Festival is a three day intensive of open class masterclass sessions, workshops and the chance to make new friends. Open to all ages; most encouraged to apply are those who have been taking their instrument seriously for a few years or more. Participants need be available on FRI & SAT between 10:00am - 2:10pm , and on SUN between 10:00am - 12:20pm. MASTERCLASS: Active participant or observer. WORKSHOPS: FRI 20/09 at 1:30pm-2:10pm: Workshop #1 Beyond the score; interpretation and sustainability as a performing artist SAT 21/09 at 1:30pm-2:10pm: Workshop #2 info regarding skill development in Australia, the structure of music degrees and courses offered at various conservatories around the world, audition preparation and beyond the music degree - tutors share experiences. Piano Trio Recital

Join us for a rare treat at the wonderful hall in Innisfail for a recital including some of the gems of the Piano Trio literature. DVORAK (1841-1904) Dumky Piano Trio in E minor, Op.90 and ARENKSY (1861-1906) Piano Trio in D minor, No.1, Op.32 as well as a wonderful work by living Australian composer HUSH Piano Trio No.1. We will have three seasoned professionals on stage to complement the end to the day’s masterclass session that will be hosted also at the same venue; William Howard (Cello), Katherine Day (Piano) and Khalida De Ridder (Violin)

A one day school holiday intensive with open style masterclass sessions and workshops for all ages. Apply as an active participant or observer; learn, collaborate and make new friends! Our tutors are locally, interstate and internationally active educators and performers with a wealth of experience from grass roots to tertiary level music education! This event made possible by the Regional Arts Development fund, a partnership between the Queensland Government and Cassowary Coast Regional Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.

J.S Bach, 6 Solo Sonatas and Partitas for Violin

Locally born violinist Khalida De Ridder returns to the north for an event so rare; the complete solo works for violin by J.S Bach. After completion of her studies at the Royal Danish Academy Of Music, Khalida completed her Doctorate degree in violin performance, taking residency in Paris and performing recitals in Europe including in Netherlands, Spain and Denmark. She now bases herself part time in her beloved Far North, now curating a Chamber Music Festival in Atherton and enjoying time in nature whilst continuing engagements in Europe.

Classical Guitarist Simon Thielke (DK) performs in various locations leading up to the 2023 Atherton Tablelands Chamber Music Festival. Works will include classical guitar repertoire from Guliani, Rodrigo, Barrios and short interlude of solo violin playing with locally born violinist Khalida De Ridder performing a solo work by J.S Bach.

Danish classical guitarist Simon Thielke and Australian violinist Khalida De Ridder will perform an intimate concert of solo and duo repertoire including Bach, Rossini, Charlton, Mertz and more! The pair have recently released with Milan based label ‘Stradivarius Milano Dischi’ and are working to kickstart their local community with artistic projects in smaller locations.
