The Box Hill Art Group Inc. was established in 1952 and since then it has nurtured many thousands of budding artists, as well as stretching the skills of experienced and exhibiting artists.

Moreover, we cater for water colours, oils, acrylics, pastels, drawing, life drawings and mixed media.

We also offer our member’s access to lessons, paint outs, workshops and exhibitions.
The Box Hill Art Group will open up a whole new colourful world for you to enjoy.

Untutored Life Drawing

Between Wednesday 6 February 2019 and Wednesday 13 November 2019
Professional female and male Artists models from the life drawing models guild are employed for these sessions. One month it's a female and the next a male. There is quite a variety of body types to draw or paint with some interesting and challenging poses. There is nothing like life drawing to sharpen your observational and drawing skills. It's always warm at life drawing. Bring your own paper and charcoal or other drawing medium. Board and easel supplied.

Landscape Painting – Full Day Workshop with Mike Kowalski

Saturday 6 July 2019
If you would like to make your landscapes looser and more exciting this is the workshop for you. International Artist, Mike Kowalski will help you take your landscape painting to a new level. This workshop is suitable for artists working in oils, acrylics, gouache or watercolour. Mike will explain his approach and techniques to produce fresh, loose, exciting landscape paintings. There will be instruction, demonstration and plenty of opportunity to put it all into practice.

Oil and Pastel - Wednesday morning 10:00-12:00

In these classes we will touch on the fundamental principles of traditional realist painting such as composition, tonal relationships and the importance of edges to add to the illusion of depth. Pamela will demonstrate and teach how to combine loose coloured ink underpaintings with pastel to produce vibrant fresh and dramatic images. This technique enables a range of possibilities not possible with either technique on its own.
