In this workshop, you will work with Tim Gruchy to create interactive digital artwork using Isadora software. More than a program, Isadora is an object-oriented programming environment designed by artists for artists. It is very easy to learn and suitable for beginners through to experts. Tim Gruchy has had an extensive career in multimedia digital art, experimenting with new forms as technology progresses. He now invites you to join in on the journey by creating your own artwork. Participants to bring: - Laptop with Isadora-4 Installed: Once you register, the gallery will provide you with access to a 1 week trial period of the Isadora-4 program. This will be sent 1-2 days prior to the workshop. Participants should bring their own laptop or computer with Isadora fully preinstalled and registered. Isadora runs on MacOS and Windows. Computers should also have a webcam, either inbuilt or external. Participants without access to a laptop may request the gallery to provide one for the duration of the workshop. - Files: Please also bring your multimedia ideas and media that relates. Meet artist Tim Gruchy and hear about the concepts and processes behind the works in the engaging new media exhibition, "The Brothers Gruchy". Tim and Mic Gruchy have been working together extensively since the mid 1980s. Most of their collaborative undertakings are in the performative arts. Together they have explored the use of video and multimedia in theatre, opera, contemporary dance, musicals and commercial projects. . . . Papercut is a unique and extremely versatile medium that can be used to create impactful, multilayered artworks. In this full day workshop, participants will learn the theory and practical techniques needed to plan, cut and assemble a two-layer papercut artwork. Bridie will guide you through the key principles of papercut design, help you develop your own style, and teach you the skills required to produce a high quality finished piece. In this beginner friendly workshop, participants will learn the basics of charcoal drawing. This workshop is suitable for all skill levels and will be a relaxed day of learning and sharing time with like-minded people. About the artist: Russian born Elena Churilova is an award-winning artist working with oils, pastels and watercolours. Her work is intuitive and inspired. In 2006 Elena Churilova moved from Russia to Australia as a qualified professional. Inspired by the local scenery, she returned to her passion, painting in a range of mediums and techniques (oil, pastel, gouache and watercolour) in a style which combines reality and fantasy. The exhibition offers visitors a unique opportunity to engage with the powerful images and narratives of over 50 extraordinary women and girls. Each woman featured has been identified by her community for the leadership or huge personal contribution they have made. These stories highlight the often-unseen leadership roles women occupy and the profound influence they have in shaping their communities. Learn to create and print your own unique linocut images with artist and Brigalow Arts Festival judge, Geoffrey Head. In this workshop you will be guided through the printmaking processes from start to finish, preparing you for your own future projects. Geoffrey Head will teach his signature approach to linocut buildings and landscapes using stylised imagery, visual texture and line. Work from your own photograph for a truly personal final product. Provided: - Light morning tea - Printing materials and tools - Printing reference photos What to Bring: - Apron or old shirt - Ruler - (Optional) Lino carving tools if you prefer to use your own - (Optional) Printing reference photo: Contrasting black and white image of a building or landscape approx. Plaster Relief is a technique used to cast uniquely carved designs into plaster panels. Relief formally sits between drawing or painting and sculpture and can be described as art in two and a half dimensions. In this workshop, participants will be instructed by artist Bruce Reynolds in his relief process. Participants will have the opportunity to carve a unique designs, cast them into a panel and add colour using hand colouring techniques. Each participant will create a sculpture ready to be hung. Acrylic Painting Workshop with Artist and Guest Judge, Emma Ward. Emma Ward is a Finalist in the 2023 Bayton Award and a prize-winning Professional Painter who works from her home studio in Gracemere. Born & bred in CQ, Emma is all to familiar with the hijinks of the White Cockatoo. Let’s pay homage to Biloela’s namesake, in this acrylic painting workshop. Working from a source photograph of a White Cockatoo, learn Emma’s signature wash techniques to capture expressive details and character with Interactive Archival Acrylics.
