The Cairns Bluewater Game Fishing Club Inc, formally Half Moon Bay GFC, the friendliest Club in Cairns, Far North Queensland.

We are excited to present our annual calendar soon with many events for the 2026 year, including our Billfish Tournament on 16-19 September 2026 with the tournament kicking off for briefing night on Wednesday 16th September and the 3rd Tournament for the 2026 Shootout with $25000 up for grabs in prize money.

2024 Cairns Bluewater Billfish Tournament

The Cairns Bluewater Billfish Tournament is on again in 2024 and it will look a little different this year with boats launching from Cairns. The format is as follows: *Wednesday 7 Aug - Compulsory briefing night for all skippers/team captains at Cairns Sailing Club. Vessels who have registered for the Shootout only are also encouraged to attend. *Fishing Starts Thursday until Saturday (3 days) *Vessels may choose to stay out at reef or return home each day. *Thurs/Fri evening - nibbles/drinks at Cairns Sailing Club. *Sat - all boats return *Sat evening - Presentation at Rydges Esplanade Resort, Cairns. Tournament Rules GFAA rules apply for the duration of the tournament. Tag and release tournament - 10 kg line class. See Tournament Rules for full details.
