City of Charles Sturt - Community Centres

The City of Charles Sturt Community Centres are hubs of activity providing workshops, events, school holiday programs, community gardens and other initiatives that meet the needs of the local community.

    Try your hand at Dungeons & Dragons in our free School Holidays session at The Brocas Community Centre. This group is aimed at young people 12 to 18 years of age. Dungeons & Dragons (also known as D&D) involves a group of players exploring a fantasy world and building a story as they play. It's like a board game, but without the board. You get to build the character and decide what it does, while sharing some laughs with other players. All game equipment is provided.

    This school holidays the Henley & Grange Community Centre is partnering up with our friends at the Marine Discovery Centre to put on a special school holiday program that promises to be lots of fun! Your kids will become science investigators and explore the beach and access a variety of interactive discovery stations. This is an inspirational experience not to be missed. Session aimed at 5-12 yr olds but younger siblings welcome. Parents must stay with children but coffee is available!

    Come and hear the story of the Snail who longs to see the world, and his adventure on the tail of a whale, past icebergs, volcanoes, sharks and penguins. Paint your own adventurous snail or his friend the whale. Your painted creations will be glazed following the workshop and can be collected from new local business Pottering Around the week following the activity. Suitable for children aged 4yrs-8yrs. $6 per participant. Parents must remain onsite throughout the session.

Clean out your wardrobe, grab your friends and come along to browse second-hand clothing treasures while sipping bubbles, nibbling finger-food and being serenaded by Jazz musicians from the Adelaide Conservatorium. Spice up the day by dressing-up to the spring theme! All funds raised will go to the Welcoming Centre, Bowden, which provides a ‘supportive space for refugee families, asylum seekers and new arrivals
