Need more volunteers? Attracting volunteers and committee members is an important part of a non-profit organisation’s ‘business as usual’.
For those that feel like the community group simply doesn’t have enough volunteers to fulfil their goals, this is a must-see session to establish your framework for a great volunteer program.
This session is designed to tease out what community groups most need from their volunteering workforce, breaking down those needs and creating a volunteering plan to match. It will help to maximise engagement with potential volunteers and give some tips and tricks to promote the organisation and potential volunteering opportunities.

• Why we do what we do
• Volunteer motivations
• Identifying and categorising volunteer roles
• Create a volunteer workforce plan

Securing our future with a funding plan (CANCELLED)

Non-profit organisations often have a limited amount of money at their disposal and if one income stream comes to an end; sometimes it can also be the end for the organisation.
This session will help community organisations to review their current fundraising practices and look to secure their future with alternative solutions.
At the end of this session, members / groups will have constructed a three-year funding plan that fits.
Topics include:
• Reviewing the right approach for a community organisation
• Knowing what skills are needed to succeed
• Setting a plan for who is responsible for what
• Appreciating the pros and cons of different modes of fundraising
• Embedding fundraising as part of the everyday

There are many grants available to non-profit organisations. it can be hard to decide which ones are best and where to invest precious time into. The first question to ask is, “Are we grant ready?”
Most funders have different requirements and application procedures, learning how to set up a framework, from which one can be ready to apply for any grant efficiently and effectively will open the doors to opportunity and success. Topics include:
• Understanding why you need money and a grant
• Deciding if your organisation have the capacity to deliver a funded project
• Being clear on the project's stakeholders and partners
• Knowing how to talk about your organisation
• Preparing a list of all of your organisation’s details
• Defined the scope and the benefits of your project
• Establishing if the project is needed
• Working out how much the project will cost
• Knowing where to find suitable funding
• Identifying how to keep the project going after the funding finishes

Council would like to express its gratitude at the luncheon on 16 May to all volunteers who donate endless hours of time to their respective community groups located within the Coorong District Council.
Coorong District Council recognises that over a third of the population in our region volunteers in some capacity, giving back to their local communities.
Volunteering plays an integral role in sustaining healthy, resilient communities and contributes significantly to the quality and vibrancy of our society.

Set in football club, The RAIN MAKER depicts the struggles of two young players and their coach. Star footballer Billy Jackson is destined for a future in AFL but events are threatening to derail his dream. His step father is abusive and when his mother receives a cancer diagnosis Billy assumes the role of carer to his mother and younger siblings. Billy’s dreams of playing AFL evaporate along with a relationship with Lark.
Meanwhile his friend Howie is the target of bullying. And as a male dancer living in a small country town, the bullying is taking its toll. Joining the football club helps, but its only when Howie seeks counselling that he recovers his self-esteem, mental health and identity.
Coach and mentor Barry Wikileaks supports the players, but he too is preoccupied. The club hasn’t made finals in three years and the committee are threatening to replace him with AFL great Bernard Merriton
