Naragebup is a volunteer-run centre dedicated to sustainability and environmental education for the people of Rockingham and surrounding suburbs. We have extensive gardens and displays of animals and plants. We welcome visitors on the four days we open each week. Marine Turtle Rehabilitation at Naragebup

We are back to the time of year when the winter storms do their damage. Creatures that should be swimming around in warm tropical waters suddenly get blown south and washed up on beaches around Perth. Sea turtles that end up so far south will not survive unless they receive sustained care.
Naragebup is one of only three Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Centres in WA. Our dedicated volunteers have nursed many previous turtles back to health so that they can be released after a year or more up around Ningaloo reef.
Please join us for a talk and:
1. Learn about marine turtles in WA coastal waters.
2. Find out how we rescue and rehabilitate them.
3. Discover how you can help to protect these creatures.
4. Meet Odyssius and Stumpy, our two recent arrivals.
Please note: as the turtles have only just arrived at the Centre any access to the turtles is subject to their state of health on the day. So far they are doing well and we will care for them the best we possibly can!

Frog Walk

Join us for an evening of amphibian fun around Lake Richmond.
We'll start the evening with a talk about the frogs that inhabit our area. Then we'll split into small groups to walk around the lake and search for some of these fascinating "nocturnal critters."
Then, finally, back to Naragebup for some warming Hot Chocolate, Marshmallows and a chat.
Please arrive around 5:30pm for a prompt 6:00pm start.
We suggest you bring a couple of low powered torches, some solid shoes and mozzie repellent.

This ticket allows any parent or carer to have day access to Naragebup. It provides a convenient way of avoiding the queue at the front desk when accompanying your child to a workshop in the centre.
If you wish to purchase a concessional entry please ignore this item and visit the front desk at the centre.
Please purchase for the day you need to attend, come along to the workshop with your child and then take a look around. You're both welcome to stay for the remainder of the day.

How Volcanoes Work

Marine Talk and Feeding

This is a talk about marine animals, their place in the ecosystem and how to protect their delicate habitat. It talks about the rescue and rehabilitation of sea turtles. You will get to see wide range of fishes in our tanks, get to ask questions and help feed them.

Organic Art is a style of art where the artist uses materials and tools provided directly by nature.
Join us for this workshop where we will explore this natural way of creating:
Make Natural Brushes: We will craft our own brushes using twigs, plants and roots.
Create Earth Paintings: We will paint using natural earth painting techniques.
(Age Range: Best suited to children 6 year and over. Younger children should be accompanied and helped by a parent.)

Fun With Fossils

Learn about how fossils are formed, the different types and how scientists date them. Find and dig up a clay fossil to take home. There will be a table with real fossils to view, explore and ask questions about them.
What's included:
1. Kids will become junior paleontologists as they head outdoors to hunt for handmade clay fossils in the sand.
2. Along the way they'll learn about different types of fossils, how they form, how long the process takes and how scientists date them.
3. There will be a touch table featuring real fossils for kids to explore and ask questions.

Plant it, grow it, eat it!

In this fun and interactive Pizza Garden Workshop, children will learn about where pizza ingredients come from while planting seeds, making their own biodegradable newspaper pot, creating a seed bomb, and decorating garden markers.
Participants will discover how to grow tomatoes, basil, rocket and spring onions, and each child will take home a pizza garden seedling, their newspaper pot of freshly sown seeds, and a seed bomb to grow at home.

Growing a Rainbow

This is a practical workshop about how plants grow. We will look at seed planting, photosynthesis and capillary action.
Children will get a pot to paint with a nature print, a seed to plant and then take it home to watch it grow under their tender care with watering and sunlight.
