Mum and Me Creative Journal Workshop

Join us for a relaxed and creative Mum and Me Creative Journal Workshop, designed for mums, carers and children to spend quality time together while making something special. In this hands-on session, you’ll transform a blank spiral-bound sketchbook into a personalised creative journal filled with colour, collage and imagination. Together you will decorate your journal cover, explore collage techniques, and add creative pages using stamps, decorative papers, stickers and other craft materials. Each participant can design their journal in their own unique style, making it a fun and expressive activity for both adults and children. Your finished journal can be used as a memory book, sketchbook, gratitude journal, junk journal or creative diary. It’s a lovely way to encourage creativity, storytelling and reflection, while sharing a meaningful creative experience together. No experience is needed and beginners are very welcome. The workshop is guided in a relaxed and supportive environment so everyone can enjoy the process. All materials are provided, including a spiral-bound sketchbook for each participant. By the end of the session you will leave with a beautiful handmade journal and a special creative memory to take home.

In this two-part workshop, you will hand-make a Junk Journal and then design the pages with repurposed vintage ephemera Part 1 - Make a Junk Journal In the first class, we will hand-make a soft cover Junk Journal from hand-dyed and intentionally distressed pages, giving the journal an old-fashioned quality. We will design the covers using vintage stamps and distressed inks and then add vintage elements like stitching, lace, buttons, and trinkets to make the journal a one-of-a-kind piece unique to you. Part 2 – Junk Journal Pages In the second half of our class, you will create pages and pockets for your Junk Journal by incorporating vintage images, stamps, paints, stencils, buttons, ribbons, lace, stamped pieces, doilies, text, and sheet music, transforming them into designs of yesteryear. By the end of these two classes, you will have crafted a beautiful Junk Journal and designed several old-fashioned styled pages styled pages within it.

1950's Fashion Cards - Workshop

The 1950’s were a magical time to be alive! As wartime rations were lifted, 1950’s women embraced the modern age of economic expansion, enjoying the new fashions and social occasions available to them. Visits to the Haberdashery section of a department store for the latest patterns of full skirted dresses and tailored twin sets as seen in the Ladies Home Journal was a highlight for 1950’s women. Drawing inspiration from the era, we will use a variety of materials to create unique card designs that capture the spirit of the times. We will start with pre-dyed card stock that has a distressed and watermarked look, dyed in a pastel palette to give you an authentic base to add some 50s glamour. Utilising various materials such as vintage ephemera, stamps, stencils, lace, ribbons, buttons, sewing patterns, and decorative elements, we will guide you in crafting unique card designs that embody the essence of 1950s sophistication paying homage to an era steeped in glamour.
