Phillip Island Community and Learning Centre

The Phillip Island Community Adult Learning Centre (PICAL) is a not for profit community-based organisation providing a space to meet, socialise, learn, create and access information about local services. PICAL provides services such as emergency food relief, counselling, free hearing tests, employment services and a Centrelink Agency. We also have a number of community spaces available for hire for meetings, training, social gatherings and community groups

    Receive 5 hours of individualised tech support for both men and women with any type of tech-related question. From computers to mobile phones, software, virtual connections, websites, email, photo editing, myGov, vax, online applications and more!   • Between Saturday 2 July 2022 and Saturday 23 July 2022
    Learn the process of creating leadlight pieces from pattern and glass selection to glass cutting, breaking, shaping, soldering and finishing. Students will be guided in the creation of their own take home leadlight panel. All materials and use of workshop tools provided.
  • Between Sunday 3 July 2022 and Sunday 17 July 2022
    Motor vehicle enthusiast, Jono Bouillir, will show you all the key aspects of car maintenance including daily fluid checks, tyre and suspension, changing a spare tyre safely, body and chassis checks, preventative procedures for deterioration, rust prevention measures, understanding products options versus cost and using online platforms for buying and selling motor vehicles. A car will be on site for a full demo to demystify your cars inner workings!

    The Traffic Management Course will teach participants the basic theory of traffic controlling as well as the selection, maintenance and correct use of the appropriate traffic control equipment. It will provide participants with the essential skills for a number of industries, including construction, mining, drilling and more.

    Proudly supported by Phillip Island Golf Club, we will be holding silent and live auctions to raise funds to support the ongoing work of PICAL. Organise a group of 8, or come on your own and join a table on the night. - Trivia and lucky door prizes! - Light supper provided - Drinks at bar prices (no BYO drinks) - Tickets $20 or buy a table of 8 for $160 - Purchase a "wish I was there" ticket if you are unable to attend on the night, but would still like to support our work.

    The Operate and Maintain Chainsaws course will teach participants the required skills and knowledge to operate chainsaws in a safe and proficient manner in the workplace. Participants will learn how to inspect, adjust, safely operate and carry out basic saw maintenance, including mixing fuels, air filter cleaning, blade tension adjustment and saw sharpening.

    The Construction Induction Course is aimed at all workers carrying out construction work, including: self-employed persons, labourers, apprentices, trades-persons, supervisors and project managers. Participants will learn the basic principles of health and safety in the construction industry as well as information about preventing workplace injury and illness, workplace injury management and workers compensation.
