Phillip Island Community and Learning Centre

The Phillip Island Community Adult Learning Centre (PICAL) is a not for profit community-based organisation providing a space to meet, socialise, learn, create and access information about local services. PICAL provides services such as emergency food relief, counselling, free hearing tests, employment services and a Centrelink Agency. We also have a number of community spaces available for hire for meetings, training, social gatherings and community groups

    Individualised tech support for any type of tech related question to assist with work and life IT skills. For computers, mobile phones, tablets, software, virtual connections, websites, email, passwords, security, photo editing, myGov, vax certificates, online applications, passports, energy saving bonus, working with children and police checks Support is $5 per half hour or $30 for 5 hours as required per term.     Over 2 consecutive weeks, learn how to create a stunning, Christmas themed macrame wall hanging. Includes instruction on all the basic knot types including larks knot, wrap knot, half square knot, square knot & crown knots. All materials supplied.     The Construction Induction Course is aimed at all workers carrying out construction work, including: self-employed persons, labourers, apprentices, trades-persons, supervisors and project managers. Participants will learn the basic principles of health and safety in the construction industry as well as information about preventing workplace injury and illness, workplace injury management and workers compensation.

    Provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies and to perform CPR in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council Guidelines. CPR at floor level on an adult manikin is a mandatory requirement. Statement of Attainment will be issued by National First Aid RTO 398. Also suitable for anyone who has a current CPR certificate needing to do an annual update of skills and knowledge. Date: Sat Dec 10 | Time: 9am - 11.30am

    Learn the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response, life support, management of casualty(s), the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance. Applies to all workers who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations including community and workplace settings. Includes CPR component. E-learning is required PRIOR to class attendance, a link to online learning is provided with booking confirmation.

    Gain the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response to infants, children and adults. For educators a support staff working within an education or care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including CPR, asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies.
