Phillip Island Community and Learning Centre

The Phillip Island Community Adult Learning Centre (PICAL) is a not for profit community-based organisation providing a space to meet, socialise, learn, create and access information about local services. PICAL provides services such as emergency food relief, counselling, free hearing tests, employment services and a Centrelink Agency. We also have a number of community spaces available for hire for meetings, training, social gatherings and community groups

    We explore our own favourite childhood stories & discuss what made them relatable and memorable for us. We consider characteristics of children's stories, what makes them special and how to appeal to the children of today. Are the rules for engaging children the same as they always were?     CPR REFRESHER TRAINING. This refresher is suitable for anyone who has done a CPR course in the last year and wants to update. Delivered by a tutor with more than 38 years of frontline, hands-on experience in emergency health care, covers CPR and the use of semi-automatic defibrillators. ** PLEASE NOTE - CPR at floor level on adults manikin is a mandatory requirement.     All people serving alcohol in Victoria need this certificate which is approved by the Director of Liquor Licensing VIC. Covers a range of topics including problems associated with excessive consumption of alcohol and the law, the question of who is responsible for RSA, facts about alcohol, enhancing the atmosphere of your premises and handling difficult customers. Sat 9 May 2pm - 6pm Please register for a USI at www.usi.gov.au prior to the course date and bring this to class.

    This course provides participants the knowledge, practical experiences & skills to progress into a horticulture related employment or further education pathway. Core components include: recognising plants, treating weeds, treating plant pests, diseases and disorders, soil testing and conditioning, undertaking propagation activities, OH&S, and assisting with landscape construction work.

    This course delivers an overview of working in the building & construction sector. Core components include numeracy skills such as measurements and calculations, reading and interpreting plans, specifications and signs referring to OH&S, and personal safety. A great entry to pre-apprenticeship study or work as a builder's labourer or trades assistant.
