Maker workshops - Race to Space - Invent a board game

Tuesday 5 May 2026
2pm to 3 pm (Home school) OR 3.30 pm to 4.30 pm (After school) Tuesdays 5, 12, 19 & 26 May @ CASM - 63 Ormsby Tce, Mandurah $60 per child for the 4 week program, maximum 12 students per class Best for 6 to 11 year olds In this 4 week series students will: Learn about probability and chance (mathematics) Learn about the Solar System (science) Develop their design and making skills (art and technology) Enjoy learning with like-minded peers Using dice and basic board game concepts, students will create a board game where astronauts race to be the first to visit all the planets in the Solar System. In the first week the students will learn about chance, probability and play a game. In week 2 they will learn about the Solar System and begin designing their game which they will complete in the series to take home. Parents welcome **All SciTEAM workshops are designed, tested, and delivered by Dr Claire Pannell, who brings exceptional expertise to every session. With a PhD in Agricultural Science and over 20 years of experience creating and delivering engaging STEM and STEAM programs, Dr Pannell ensures high-quality learning experiences for students.   Her background includes serving as State Manager for CSIRO Education and Programs Manager at Scitech, where she oversaw hands-on school initiatives such as the Tinkering Space and Lab.   Dr Pannell is fully insured and holds current Working with Children and Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Checks. She is also trained in First Aid and COVID-19 hygiene protocols, ensuring a safe and professional environment for all participants.**

Homeschool - Science & Making with SciTEAM

In this event series we will learn about physics by tinkering and making over 5 weeks. It is highly recommended to attend all sessions. We will develop our building skills and become a problem solving inventor Where: Falcon Library Who: Primary school aged homeschool students. Best for 8 to 12 year olds. Younger children will need a parent or carer to stay to assist. CUT & CREATE - Collage Art Workshop for Home School

After viewing the Other Worlds exhibition at the Contemporary Art Spaces Mandurah, featured artist Claire Pannell will be leading this creative workshop. Learn specialised collage techniques working with a range of mediums such as recycled magazines, photographs, coloured paper, fabric and more to create imaginary people and animals. Suitable for aspiring artists 6 years old and up. Parents are encouraged to participate (free) and must be reachable by phone if leaving.

Beach Shack Diorama - FREE workshop

Share your stories and memories while helping us to make a community beach shack diorama. Design your own beach shack scene and document it using an instant print camera. Take your photo home for memories. You can also make your own miniature beach shack to take home and contribute to the diorama by making all the things that make up the habitats of beach shacks such as shrubs, trees, birds, gardens, sand dunes and back yard BBQs. Beach Shack Maker - FREE Workshop

In this workshop you will be making a diorama which is a replica of a scene, with 3D miniature models. Learn how to transfer photographic images onto a sturdy material such as foam card. Then use photographs and templates to construct your tiny shacks and place them into your diorama scene to take home. Use the photographs provided or send in your own to be printed in advance (instructions will be provided when you book). Bookings essential Recommended for 6 to 106 year olds.
