Presented by Pigram Productions “A Walk with the Giants” is an acoustic showcase featuring Indigenous singer-songwriters from across the Kimberley Region. Each artist will perform original songs alongside a tribute to one of the Kimberley musicians whose work has influenced their own journey. It's an evening of storytelling, connection and music that acknowledges the artists who helped shape our region's rich musical heritage while celebrating the voices carrying it forward.

Millie the Black Kite

Between Friday 21 August 2026 and Saturday 22 August 2026
The story of 'Millie the Black Kite' is based on the story of a famous Broome bird who accidently hitched a ride to Bali. This beautiful, interactive puppet performance is the result of a collaboration between a Broome and Indonesian puppet companies. The story is told using a multitude of puppets. The story is a reflection on the impact of human intervention in the lives of animals, the importance of understanding the needs of wildlife in a changing world, a call for humanity and understanding, and what it means to be free. It is suitable for all ages, but children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. All tickets include a free Puppet Workshop an hour prior to the show commencing. The Shinju Matsuri Opening Ball presented by DAHLIA DESIGNS is a modern take on the historic Shinju Ball, in our amazing outdoor venue – the Shinju Matsuri Festival Hub. The theme this year will be Rock n Roll! Not just any rock n roll, we are going right back to the beginning! Featuring the incredible " Bevan Sidebottom and the Smooth Tones" Think Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly and the all-time King of Rock - Mr Elvis Presley! So, grease that hair back, cut those bangs and get ready to jive all night! Keep the festival opening celebrations going in style by a star-lit Roebuck Bay, with live music, dinner & drinks. Tickets include - a welcome drink on arrival, along with a light supper served all throughout the evening. Sustainable Lantern Creation Workshops

Make Your Own Pearl Buttons

Experience a unique piece of Broome’s pearling heritage in this hands-on workshop at the Broome Men’s Shed. Using traditional mother-of-pearl shell, you’ll learn how pearl buttons were once made for the global fashion industry. Guided by experienced volunteers, you’ll cut, shape, sand and polish your own buttons before drilling the sewing holes. At the end of the session, you’ll take home three beautiful 23 mm mother-of-pearl buttons that you made yourself. No previous experience is required. This workshop is suitable for beginners and offers a fascinating glimpse into one of Broome’s iconic industries. All genders are welcome. Date: Thursday 27 August Time: 9:00 am - 11:00 am Location: Broome Men’s Shed (4 Blick Drive, Shire Of Broome Broome, Western Australia 6752) Good to Know Maximum 10 participants (RSVP essential) $10 suggested donation to the Broome Men’s Shed Make and take home 3 pearl buttons (23 mm, 2-hole) Closed-toe boots and no loose clothing are required Respirators and eye protection are available to borrow, though bringing your own is encouraged Suitable for ages 16+ (18 or younger with a participating parent/guardian) Step behind the scenes of Broome’s pearling history and create a unique keepsake to take home. Experience an unforgettable evening of original Kimberley music under the stars as Mabu Nurlu Buru (Good Song Country) brings together three outstanding First Nations singer-songwriters, each with their own unique voice, stories and connection to Country. Representing Broome/Djarindjin, Saltwater Kin blend rich harmonies, heartfelt storytelling and contemporary sounds, and are currently in the studio recording their highly anticipated debut album. From Derby/Broome, Stellar Moon & the Dark Knights deliver a powerful blend of soul, blues and roots, creating performances that are heartfelt, uplifting and deeply connected to people and place. Following the release of her debut album Phases, Stellar Moon is currently recording her second album. Representing Fitzroy Crossing/Halls Creek, Bart Marr & the Now or Never Boys bring high-energy country rock infused with Kimberley heart and humour. Fresh from the studio earlier this year, they'll be celebrating the release of their debut single on the night. Set against the beautiful backdrop of the Shinju Hub at Town Beach, this free community concert promises a warm Kimberley welcome, great music, delicious food, a fully stocked bar and an evening of connection through song. Entry is free, however registrations are essential as numbers are limited.

The Shinju Matsuri Sunset Long Table Dinner is one of Western Australia’s most exclusive dining events and a highlight of the festival each year. Held on beautiful Cable Beach, guests will enjoy a premium selection of Western Australian beverages and a menu celebrating Broome’s rich cultural heritage, featuring local and seasonal produce. This year’s event will feature celebrity chef Arrnott Olssen, renowned for showcasing modern Fijian cuisine and Pacific flavours. The evening also includes live entertainment from local and visiting performers, finishing with dancing under the Kimberley night sky. Please note: For a preferred seating arrangement with fellow guests, we recommend booking your tickets together.
