At just 14 years old, Ezra joined the award-winning blues band Johnny Green’s Blues Cowboys with his father Ed Matzenik (The Atlantics, Track Records London) on bass. Since then, Ezra has worked with Wanda Jackson, Linda Gail Lewis, Australian rock group Rose Tattoo as well as performances at The Sydney Opera House with James Blundell, Nick Barker, Dave Larkin and Doug Parkinson. John’s influence was huge in The Beatles, before he went on to launch his solo career with the Plastic Ono Band. As a songwriter and performer John had co-written 25 Number One hits on the hot 100 U.S. charts. Rebellious by nature, he was a pacifist at heart and was also involved in political activism. Born on October 9, 1940, his life was tragically taken in 1980, but we are left with the most wonderful legacy and library of John’s song to reflect upon.

Brian's career began with the iconic Australian band The Groop in 1966 and he wrote all of their many hit singles and albums including Woman You’re Breaking Me and Such A Lovely Way. He formed Axiom with Glenn Shorrock, heavily influenced by The Band and dubbed Australia’s first supergroup - again he was the primary songwriter and penned hits including Little Ray of Sunshine, Arkansas Grass and My Baby’s Gone before the band broke up in 1969. The next few years saw many gold and platinum records as a solo artist and an array of prestigious awards for film scores, title songs and TV themes. In addition he produced many acts, wrote much-loved hits including Ginger Man, Let Go, Don’t You Know It’s Magic and Alvin Purple, and recorded the platinum soundtrack to the worldwide-acclaimed cult surf movie Morning of the Earth. Brian Cadd remains one of Australia’s greatest treasures; a true statesman of songwriting and recording. Not to be missed!

From fronting bands to solo records, from musical theatre to hit songs, from constant touring and live shows to collaborations with other music greats like Brian Cadd, Ronnie Burns, Darryl Cotton, Jim Keays and Rick Springfield, Russell has done the lot. His blues trilogy in the 2010s told Australian tales and redefined the genre, and his latest album with The Morris Springfield Project tells the story of 'Día de Los Muertos' as its never been told before. It's an absolute treat to welcome Russell to our little club this year.

Mick Pealing cut his teeth on Adelaide's Hindley Street, forming the band Stars and recording the hit singles Mighty Rock and Look After Yourself. Over the following decades Mick continued to front his own bands, The Ideals, The Method and The Spaniards and, today, continues his love for British hard rock from the 60s and 70s with the band Raw Brit, and performs regularly with fellow Stars band member Nick Charles. Nick has performed live 30 years of expertise over a wide range of roots music.

Born in Glasgow, Alex started playing harmonica at the age of five and left Glasgow for London in 1967, becoming immersed in the exciting era of popular music at the time. In 1970 Alex moved to the Channel Islands and learned to play guitar in the intense folk/blues circuit. Alex has since become very popular in the Australian blues scene. He entertained us at TomKatz in a brief gap between lockdowns and we're very happy to welcome him back!

Local legends the Daddios, President Roots and Jalgany are getting together to support the Roman Beach Party team (named in honour of the Celibate Rifle's Damian Lovelock), in their bid to drive from the outback to the coast in one of the crappiest cars imaginable. Our co-drivers are Don Clancy and Pete "Smokey" Dawson and their aim is to raise as much coin as possible with every dollar from ticket sales goes to funding cancer research and treatment. Make yourself feel good all over!

Mick Pealing cut his teeth on Adelaide's Hindley Street, forming the band Stars and recording the hit singles Mighty Rock and Look After Yourself. Over the following decades Mick continued to front his own bands, The Ideals, The Method and The Spaniards and, today, continues his love for British hard rock from the 60s and 70s with the band Raw Brit, and performs regularly with fellow Stars band member Nick Charles. Nick has performed live 30 years of expertise over a wide range of roots music.
