Role-playing activities, hands-on workshop, and opportunities to Q&A at the end of the session. This is Auslan Led - will be delivered in Auslan, with voice over interpreter. Light Snacks will be provided.

This Art & Crafts club is designed for D/deaf & Hard of hearing children in Primary School (siblings welcome) to connect & make new friends Parents: This is also an opportunity to connect with other parents. Parents are required to stay on site during the event. We will have Volunteers & Mentors (depending on availability) attending these events. An Auslan interpreter will be provided.

Come along and join other families for a fun-filled Miniature Train Ride at Wilson Park! This event is perfect for Deaf and Hard of Hearing children in Year 6 or under, along with their parents, grandparents, and siblings. Morning Tea is provided, and let your child get creative with crafts & tattoos. Your train ticket is valid for the day from 10am - 2pm. It’s an excellent opportunity to meet with new families at the start of the school year and connect with those who understand your journey Tickets have been subsidised by WAFDC. WAFDC is organising a Deaf Youth Social for 18 - 24-year-olds. You must have Bounce Grip Socks - if you don't have them please purchase them when booking. Heading to Bounce for 2 hours of fun, and then if you wish, you can join with everyone and head to Carousel for dinner and drinks. (This will be at your own expense - not organised under WAFDC) Minimum numbers are required for this event to go ahead so make sure you book your spot early. Minimum of 10 for this booking to go ahead.

We will have a 2 Hour booked session with a Bounce Host, with structured games and free time. Fun & Games and catch up with friends after the Deaf Strengths Camp. It's all about building confidence, learning leadership skills and making lasting friendships with other students just like you. We will travel to Waroona by bus, with pickup meeting points at Morley & Cockburn. (drop off points are the same)

Join us for an Easter Picnic! Bring your own picnic lunch, blanket, and chairs for a fun-filled family day. The Easter Bunny will be on site for photos, plus Easter crafts and a face painter for the kids! After lunch, enjoy water slides (weather permitting) or another exciting activity. Our Deaf mentors will also be there! It’s a family-friendly event—grandparents and siblings are welcome too! The afternoon sessions are for older primary school kids who would love to engage in with water works & slippery slides. Don't forget to bring your bathers & towels.

WAFDC is Heading Back to Esperance for Auslan for Families – Term 4! We’re excited to announce that WAFDC will be continuing the Auslan for Families program in Esperance for Term 4. Auslan Level 2 will be taught by Nobuo Auslan Level 1 will be taught by Jenelle If you are an EA from the Town of Esperance, you are not required to pay for this course, but you must have attended the previous Level 1 or Level 2 Auslan when WAFDC was in Esperance in August. If you are a Family Network Group (FNG) member and have a child with a hearing loss, please select the “Family FNG” option for payment. We’re looking forward to another great term of learning and connecting through Auslan!

WAFDC is hosting Auslan Workshop for Families! The "Auslan for Families" workshop, combined with Deaf Awareness Training (DAT), offers a fantastic opportunity to not only learn Auslan but also understand the cultural and communication barriers of being Deaf. Here’s a breakdown of what your event will provide: Deaf Awareness Training (DAT): Deaf Culture: Understanding the values & what is culturally appropriate. Effective Communication: Tips and tools on communicating better with Deaf people, including using Auslan. Recognizing Auslan (Australian Sign Language) is a language that is used within the Deaf community, and the importance of learning. Morning tea, tea / coffee is provided. Please bring your own lunch. 4 & 5th May, 28 & 29th June 2025. At the start of the course, Level 1 Auslan Book will need to purchased ($50.00) - please purchase online, and will be distributed during the first workshop. Auslan Level 1 Book will be valid for the first 3 workshops.
