Our association thrives on being part of our local community. From Craft Events, Live Music events, Health & Fitness Classes to Coffee, Craft and Catch Up sessions we continue to provide engaging and social outlets. Our events and fundraisers attract not only our local district but also reaching far and wide as our community hall continues to be a hub for activity in our local area. Our fundraising events directly benefit our community and other groups within it.
Notes From the Postman - featuring Rufous Whistler

Rufous Whistler’s debut album, National Panic, debuted at #2 on the ARIA Country charts in March 2025 and earned itself best debut album nomination from Folk Alliance Australia, as well as ABC Country’s Feature Album of the Week. With international airplay, a gripping live show, and a strong grassroots fan base from their love of being on the road, the band’s blend of folk and alt-country is resonating deeply with audiences. Hailing from Northeast Victoria (Wiradjuri Country), Rufous Whistler combines raw storytelling with modern alt-country arrangements, reminiscent of I’m With Her’s harmonies, Gillian Welch’s storytelling, and the energy of Trampled by Turtles. The band is touring extensively across Australia and New Zealand in 2025 / 2026. This is alt-country music that hits home and leaves you wanting more.

After the popularity of our mosaic lamp workshops we thought that this would be a lovely accompaniment in the home or office.
In this workshop you can decorate your pieces with Mosaic Glass and add your choice of fragrance to a set of 3 candles. We have a range of fragrances to choose from :)

This season we feature 'Those Folk'
Lawrence Menard (USA) and Clare Quinn (AUS) are the transpacific-troubadours known as ‘Those Folk’. With Lawrence’s Cajun beginnings and Californian upbringing melding with Clare’s grounding in Australian folk music, their sound is diverse and inspiring. Vocal harmonies are featured alongside guitars, mandolin, banjo, accordion & banjo.
We have collaborated with artists from around Australia bringing you a great night out with some of this country's finest talents in our intimate venue for 2025

Quilled Creations

In the past few year quilling has made a real comeback. Turning thin strips of paper into cleverly constructed florals and foliage - a simple yet surprisingly effective paper craft with no experience required to make some delightful results.
This month we are turning our quilled creations into a framed art piece, displaying in a cute shadow box to protect the work and present beautifully.
We have a lovely floral background to adorn and highlight or if you have a small design of your own we can bring that to life :)

In this fun hands on workshop you will create a piece of framed glass art using crushed glass, marbled beads, resin and some know how.
All tuition and materials are supplied and you leave with a finished piece of art that can adorn a window or brighten the view in any room.
There will be several designs to choose from on the night. The finished product will be in an 20cm x 20cm / 8" x 8" frame.

Fundraiser for Eliza

This September, our local teenager Eliza will be heading to Siem Reap, Cambodia, to share her skills, passion, and energy in support of New Hope Cambodia. Through her fundraising efforts, Eliza is helping to provide free education, healthcare, and crisis care to preschool-aged children and youth in one of Cambodia’s most disadvantaged communities.
Eliza’s mission is to create meaningful change and open doors of opportunity for critically poor families in Siem Reap. Your support—no matter how big or small—will make a real difference, not only to Eliza’s journey but to the lives of the families this incredible project supports.

I made it myself ! :)
Make your own decorative pens in this creative polymer clay workshop, we have a huge range of colours to choose from and will make these pen barrels using full blends, colourful canes, flowers or whatever you choose to create.
We will demonstrate a couple of simple canes which work well on this medium.
No experience needed, all materials and tuition supplied.
You can complete 2-3 pens depending on how elaborate or simple your chosen design is.
Also available in the same workshop time slot is making your own Decoupage Vase :)
Why not make one to hold your pens, knick knacks or as a planter, would even make a great gift.

Come join 'Mel' from 'Hoop Groove Move' as she runs the 'Little Circles' program at our local Postmans Ridge Hall. Little Circles is a Hula Hoop Program that is designed to teach children of all ages to hoop, move & express themselves.
Mel can't wait to change the lives of our little humans and make their world a better place through expressive movement and Hula Hoop fun.

Polymer Clay Earrings

Are you a simple or statement earrings person? Or maybe you like something fun or festive to stand out!
Whatever your choices you'll be guided through the process to create your very own - one-of-a-kind pieces!
You can make up to 3 (three) pairs of earrings during this 2-hour workshop and this includes baking and assembling your earrings so you can take them home the same day. ($30 for 3 sets of Earrings) If time allows and you wish to purchase additional supplies to make more on the night, you may do so for an additional fee.
We will have a large range of cutters and a huge assortment of colours to choose from as well as showing you other steps to create marbling, specialty prints, texturing, using simple canes and using gold, copper and silver leaf to add even more brilliance.

The Withcott & District Progress Association are fundraising to provide improvements to our community Postman’s Ridge Hall. Secure your place in history by purchasing a paver to be laid in the hall grounds. It is suggested you place your family name(s) with the date you made our region your home.
Your donation of $100/$200 entitles you to have your name engraved into a paver as a lasting record of your valued support. The paver will be permanently installed in the Postmans Ridge Hall grounds proudly showing your donation.

Community Information Session - 'We Watch'

Join us at Postmans Ridge Hall and listen to Andre Els explain the 'We Watch' app to interested community members. He will be on hand to give testimony of its current use in his community and how it would benefit ours with the rise in crime.
A new neighborhood watch app could help warn residents of suspicious activity in the community. The We Watch App was developed by policeman Ben Kuhanez and ex-army serviceman James Philip. The app allows users to enter the location and details of any suspicious activity they witness in their neighbourhood, which is then displayed on an interactive map for the next 24 to 48 hours. A notification is also sent to any person in a one-kilometer radius of any logged activity.

Mosaic Lamp Workshop

Make your very own Turkish Mosaic Lamp.
Choose from a classic Standard Lamp or the elegant Swan Lamp, either of these will be a beautiful addition to your home, workplace or even as a gift.
Withcott & District Progress Assn is very excited to be able to bring this workshop to you at a heavily subsidised rate to make it more affordable.
We have been working with other companies and local tutors and are very pleased to be able to supply this workshop at a great price.
Everything is supplied in this 2 hour workshop.
There will be examples of lamps on the day and plenty of inspiration for you to create your very own masterpiece.
**Please note lamps need grouting the next day full instructions provided**
For the children we also offer a similar workshop. They can decorate a tea light using the same method as the lamp and all the fun of creating their own masterpiece.
For the children's workshop grouting is not necessary as these will sparkle bright on their own.

Air Dry Clay Christmas Decorations

This fun workshop is creating some Christmas decorations using air dry clay. Unlike polymer clay it isn't baked but dries naturally in the open (don't worry we have ways of speeding it up!!)
You can make some hanging decorations to leave natural, highlight with foil paints or completely paint in colourful palettes for the Christmas season!
Another option which would be great for gifting is using the terra-cotta air dry clay to make a hanging diffuser, simple ad your favourite essential oil ( I like the cinnamon one for Christmas ! )

Suitable for all ages and abilities no previous experience needed, your tutor Helle from Helle Belle Creations will step you through the process to create your Christmas Cookies.

- Cookies will be baked and ready for icing before you arrive.

In this hands-on workshop we take you through the process of creating your very own floral kokodama
With origins in Japan the Kokodama (or moss ball) began as a way for Japanese people to stay connected to the forest while living in the city.
The lack of a man-made pot surrounding the plant mimics the natural environments in which plants grow and embodies the idea of mother nature being self-sufficient
Suitable for all ages and abilities no previous experience needed, your tutor Deb from 'Just a Girl who Loves Kokodamas' will step you through the process to create your one of a kind pieces.

This event is for local children aged 0-12 years.
We will have music, activities, face painting, best dressed and trick or treating.
Doors open at 5pm

The Withcott & District Progress Association are proud to present another Family Friendly Bingo evening. Each ticket provides the holder with 1 Bingo Book (extra books can be purchased on night)
We have a range of rounds starting with line rounds ($50 cash) and moving to the full card rounds ($100 cash). We have 2 kids rounds where children have the chance to win some great prizes. Don't forget our MAJOR round where you have the chance to win $300 CASH!!!!
Please note when booking tables kids do not need a seat booked (they can sit on benches to side of your table).
