See the shape of the instrument change before your eyes, from the 16th century Ganassi in G, custom-built for the brilliant Dutch divisions of Jacob van Eyck, to the contemporary Paetzold square bass recorder encased in layers of marine ply, ideally suited for Pete Rose’s tribute to Be-Bop I’d Rather Be in Philadelphia. Hear the virtuosic echoes of High Renaissance style of Frescobaldi and Bassano warping through the baroque age of Bach and others to reach their final ecstatic resonant form in Australian Ross Edwards’ Ulpirra.
