    Purchase a copy of The Boonah Tragedy, by Ian Darroch. This richly illustrated book, published in 2004, tells of a little known, but tragic episode of World War one when the troopship 'Boonah' arrived back in Fremantle in 1918 bearing soldiers infected with the Spanish flu.

    Purchase a copy of Western Sentinel, by Ian Darroch. This richly illustrated book, published in 2018, tells the complete story of the former Woodman Point Quarantine Station from its earliest days until its closure in 1979.

The site, now a recreation camp, is heritage-listed and and almost wholly untouched from its original construction. You will visit the original quarantine buildings and facilities, including the oldest crematorium in Australia, the original fumigation chamber and the original Plague Hospital, now a museum containing considerable medical and military history of the site. Morning tea included.
