Members of Scattered Arts offer a variety of workshops and classes for individuals and groups. Operating for over 50 years Scattered Arts is the longest-running art and craft cooperative in the Brisbane Region.

Workshop - Fused Glass Jewellery for Kids

Saturday 31 May 2025
This super fun class has been specifically designed for children and will allow students to make 3 fused glass pendants. These will be fired off site and will be available to collect the following week. Students will create (i) stacked fused pendant, (ii) striped fused pendant (iii) dichroic glass pendant. During the lesson, they will experiment and explore using a variety of glass types and after discussion with the student, a bail will be attached to the back of the jewellery item so a cord can be attached. Come and join us for an exciting opportunity to experiment and explore the world of glass fusing. These classes are lead by an experienced glass artisan and will take part in a safe and structured learning environment.

Printmaking Workshop for Advanced Users with Tamara

This workshop is for those who have completed the Printmaking Workshop for Beginners. In this advanced workshop participants will learn how to do a Reduction Print This technique uses the same lino block to complete each colour layer to create a colourful print. All materials included, in particular a bigger lino block (14 x 10cm)

Garden Lantern - Abstract Daisies with Liz

Between Wednesday 26 March 2025 and Sunday 11 May 2025
During this workshop, students will make and decorate their own flower themed garden lanterns. Students will learn to use glass cutting tools and equipment in a safe learning environment. They will use sheet glass, glass accessories and tools to create their own "Abstract Daisies" glass panels that will fit into the original glass lantern. The glass panels will be fired in a kiln off site and returned to the store for the students to collect during the following week. Students can select either a black or white lantern.

Workshop Magic Mushies Lightcatchers

Wednesday 23 April 2025
During this workshop, students will make and decorate their own "Mushroom" themed light catchers. Students can select colours from transparent and opaque glass to design and create 2 light catchers. Students will learn to use glass cutting tools and equipment in a safe learning environment. They will use sheet glass, glass accessories and tools to create their own “Magic Mushies” glass light catchers. The kiln fired pieces will be returned to the store for the students to collect during the following week. Students are asked to wear closed in shoes, protective clothing (apron) and tie back long hair. Bring a note book, pen and a water bottle - all other materials and equipment will be provided.

Kumihimo for Beginners

Saturday 15 February 2025
Kumihimo is a Japanese Braiding Technique. In this workshop you learn how to make a beautiful bracelet using basic Kumihimo. Your kit includes: Kumihimo Disk & bobbins, Size 8 Myuki Seed Beads (3 colours), End Caps, Jump Rings, Clasp and S-Lon Cord. (The beads will be pre-loaded onto the disk). Please bring a magnifying lamp (if required). A beading mat will be supplied. Your piece should be completed within the time allocated.

Necklace Stringing with Pauline

Between Wednesday 5 February 2025 and Saturday 8 February 2025
In this workshop you will learn the terminology of components and then make your own necklace. Pauline will teach the techniques required to create a professional finish. The necklace is finished with a pre-made tassel featuring Pauline's handmade lampwork beads. Each one is individual with several colour options to make your unique necklace. All materials are supplied with the use of the teacher's tools during the workshop. Materials include tigertail, clasp, bail, tassel pendant, jump rings and a selection of beads. There will be a selection of colours available in both gold and silver metals.

Papier Maché Lantern Making

Denim Flower Workshop

Create a special denim fabric flower pin or clip with a beaded centre. Choose from a variety of colours to suit your individual style. Colours include indigo denim, black, cream, red and more. Basic hand-sewing skills are an advantage, however not essential. Enjoy making an individual fashion accessory which can worn as a pin on clothing, or attached to a handbag, or worn in your hair. In this class you will see how some scraps of fabric, a few beads and threads and a bit of imagination can be put together to create an appealing textile art piece. What you need: a spirit of adventure, some basic hand stitching ability and a willingness to have a go. Charm Bracelet Beading Class

ROYAL CORONATION HIGH TEA AND CRAFT EVENT

Bring a friend, enjoy a glass of bubbles, make something crafty and share in a delicious high tea. Scattered Arts invite you and your friends to our special event being held in May. Perhaps you would like to take your mother out for Mothers Day, or just spend a day having some fun with us at the Wynnum Manly Leagues Club on Wondall Road, Manly West. The doors open at 11.30am, you will have a choice of several activities. On arrival you will be given your name card to place on the activity table you would like to participate in. Then have a look at the items that Scattered Arts members make and that are for sale. Take your seat at midday for your craft activity which goes for 1 hour and then at 1.00pm we are served our High Tea. Tickets only $55 per person.

Have you ever wanted to know the mysteries of wet felting with merino wool fibre and silk? Here is your chance to learn and understand how you can bond wool fibre to silk fabric to make your own unique "one of a kind" piece to wear and enjoy. Making your own wearable art is very satisfying, a fashion piece to fit in with your wardrobe. So if you have about 5 hours to spare, Scattered Arts is hosting a workshop on this very technique. You will come up with your own design, the photo is just an example but black will form the base. Everything you need will be supplied on the day, just bring your lunch and two towels and an empty ice cream container if you have one. Space is limited so book straight away to secure your spot.
