Safe Transport Workshop

Child and Baby First aid course

Learn life-saving skills for your little one, this course is designed by paramedics to ensure you know exactly what to do in an emergency. This private session offers personalised, hands-on training and extended practical learning time. With your very own Tiny Hearts Educator guiding you, you’ll gain the confidence to become your own paramedic at home. What You'll Learn: CPR: Baby and Child (drowning, SIDS) Choking: prevention, gagging, mild and severe Red Flags in Newborns Allergies + Anaphylaxis Respiratory Assessment: mild, moderate and severe Healthcare pathways: Ambulance, Hospital, GP Advocate for your child Fevers Febrile Convulsions Rashes: assessment of mild and life-threatening rashes Assessment of trauma Burns Head injury: mild, moderate and severe Bleeding: mild and life-threatening Bookings are essential Cost: $45 per person (this normally costs $180 per person inclusive of travel)

Introductory Game development STRESS TESTING WORKSHOP

STRESS TESTING WORKSHOP Join this hands-on, game design experience where creativity meets competition! Participants (ages 8+ who have computer literacy) will explore a real game in development, build levels with a custom editor, and test their creations with peers. Work in teams or solo to design and playtest mini-games, then race the clock in a themed 30-minute challenge. No prior experience needed—just bring curiosity and a sense of fun. Learn basic game design, boost confidence, and enjoy a unique behind-the-scenes look at game creation. If Possible, please BYO laptop to use. Laptop needs to operate at, at least the following specifications: Monitors: 1 Operating system: Windows 10/11 CPU: Intel i7-3770 GPU: NVIDIA GTX 660Ti RAM: 8GB DDR3 The workshop will be held at the Yankalilla Cultural Centre (Library building) in the meeting room, on Sunday June 29th at 10:30 until 2:30pm and includes lunch. This workshop is free, but bookings are essential.

Online bookings are closed. You are able to register at the event via a paper form. Thanks to funding by the District Council of Yankalilla we are pleased to offer a football coaching clinic in Cape Jervis. The clinic is free for participants aged 5 years and above. Run by qualified local coaches the clinic will provide an opportunity to discover, explore and hone football skills. Suitable for all playing levels from discovery to experienced. All participants will be divided up into small groups and run through fun skills-based drills and games.

HLTAID011 - Provide First Aid & CPR (5hrs) Face-to-Face Training & Assessment (Face to Face) **Once you have registered and paid here, you will receive a link via email to REGISTER AGAIN via First Aid Pro booking portal.** Provide First Aid teaches both the theory behind and the practical application of first aid skills pertaining to over 2 dozen of the most common first aid conditions and illnesses. Once you have completed this comprehensive first aid course you will be proficient in national first aid. You will learn how to identify signs and symptoms and provide first aid assistance in line with Australian Resuscitation Council , ARC guidelines and other relevant Australian national peak clinical bodies. Course material also includes using a defibrillator, AED and asthma first aid training. Previously been known as the following first aid courses Apply First Aid, Senior First Aid, Level 2 Workplace First Aid and HLTAID003.

Transition to Teenhood

How best to support your tween. Aiming to help parents understand what they can do now to best prepare their tween for becoming a teenager. Putting in good structures and boundaries with tweens is easier than waiting for the wheels to fall off in the teenage years. Yankalilla Council has teamed up with Mark Koen from Restored Connection to deliver a community workshop around empowering parents to navigate the transition into teenhood. The workshop aims to capture the wisdom in the room from parents and offer useful tips and strategies to help support our young people through this developmental stage.

This Amazing Race experience challenges teams of young people to solve problems, think creatively, and race against the clock to the finish line. During this activity, participants will navigate Yankalilla and Normanville on foot in supervised teams. A good level of concentration and fitness is required! The Amazing Race is designed for individuals aged 12 and up. Participants are welcome to nominate team members with their friends (just make sure they register as well). However, final team assignments will be made by staff to ensure a balanced mix of abilities.

An introduction into first aid including CPR

This session aims to introduce basic first aid concepts to young people aged 12 to 16 years old. Jon Jaensch, a highly experienced trainer with over 47 years of service as a first responder, volunteer, and SA Ambulance trainer, will lead the session. Participants will have hands-on opportunities to practice first aid techniques, empowering them to respond confidently in real-life situations. Key topics covered include CPR, fracture and sprain management, burn care, and basic wound care. It's important to note that while this course provides valuable introductory knowledge, it does not offer accreditation or certification. Following the first aid training, participants will be invited to join a Pizza and planning session. This session aims to gather ideas from local young people to help guide future planning of opportunities and activities. This session is part of the Myponga Red Cross Redi-communities program, in collaboration with the District Council of Yankalilla.

Beach inspired art - Youth Event

Spend some time with acclaimed artist and art therapist Jane Smeets who will help you to see the beach with a different perspective. Take your appreciation for our beautiful scenery to the next level as you create your own piece to take home. This session has been funded by the District Council of Yankalilla as part of the Youth program and is suitable for young people aged 12 years to 18 years of age. The session is being offered to a small group in order to provide the most quality outcome to participants. Bookings are essential and places are limited. All equipment will be supplied. Please bring a drink bottle and dress appropriately and sun smart for the weather and the activities.

Join Fleurieu Marine Education and see beach treasures through the eyes of our passionate and knowledgeable local guides, as they share their knowledge of marine life. Fleurieu Marine Education is passionate about educating young people and facilitating experiences of our marine environments. Participants are asked to meet at the Fleurieu Marine Education Marquee at 1pm, which is located on the beach in front of the surf club. Tongs, trays, and guides will be provided for participants to use. Children under 10yrs need to be supervised/accompanied by an adult. In this one-shot campaign you will experience a sneak peek into the incredible world of D&D. Suitable for young people aged 10 years and above. Lunch and equipment provided thanks to grant funding by the ADF through the Local Drug Action Teamm promoting positive community engagement. What is D&D? In Dungeons & Dragons, the players form an adventuring party who explore fantasy worlds together as they embark on epic quests and level up in experience. There’s no winning or losing in D&D—at least, not in the conventional way. Dungeons & Dragons at its heart, is a game that focuses on storytelling. The dice just help you along. Everything is your decision, from what you look like, to how you act, to what happens next.

The Yankalilla, Rapid Bay & Myponga Agricultural & Horticultural Society inc (commonly known as the Yank Show) has an exhibit called the YANKABALD Art Prize (after the Archibald art prize, which is an Australian portrait art prize for painting, generally seen as the most prestigious portrait prize in Australia!) To encourage entries into this class, specifically by young, we are funding some portrait lessons with local art teacher and artist Judith Sweetman. The classes will include all instructions and materials including the entry fee for the show exhibition. Entrants not only get their art admired but also go in the running to win a prize. Participants need to bring an A4 photocopy of the person they want to paint. A photocopy is acceptable. The only stipulation in this person must be a local to the region!

It is a prized quality as it positions us to deal with the inevitable hiccups, shocks and disasters that await us in the future. This parenting & education workshop delivered by Mark Le Messurier, (author of Teaching Values of being Human & creator of 'What's the buzz program) will provide a collection of PRACTICAL resilience building ideas called the 10 C's. Can-do attitudes, Confidence, Connections, Capacity to change, Contributing to others, Core value awareness, Controlling what you can, Communication, Composed parenting and Common sense.
