Australia's most famous poet, Banjo Paterson presented lectures on the Boer War in Zeehan's Gaiety Theatre on 10th and 12th November 1900. Enjoy a matinee showing of the documentary BOOMTOWN in Zeehan's grand ol' Gaiety Theatre . Boomtown is a documentary film set in the mining town of Zeehan on the remote West Coast of Tasmania. In the early 1990’s, the local tin mine, the lifeblood of the town, had just closed and as a result the local economy collapsed as many people left. A small band of concerned locals are convinced that a play will reunite this affected community and rekindle their spirits and sense of purpose. This documentary highlights the towns rich mining history and its colourful characters and follows the making the musical melodrama set at the turn of the century when Zeehan was a Boomtown. Sunday 29 June 2025 12 noon to 1pm Price (Movie only) $8 or Price $15.00 ( includes movie and admission to the West Coast Heritage Center complex at conclusion of the movie when ticket is presented at reception) valid for Sunday 29 June 2025 only.
